  1. I had no idea or knowledge of CRDP but I'll check it out and file if appropriate. I was in Vietnam and have tinnitus combat-related but all the other misc ailments that I'm SC'd on aren't related to Vietnam but according to what I've read that issue is moot. Thanks You so much for your insight and knowledge. I thought once a disability was sc’d for 20 years like hbp it couldn’t be taken away? It’s eliminated but can they still remove it from one’s disabilities? I still have the sc on the books.
  2. Buck, what did you mean by "If I have 20 years in?" I do have 20 years of the disability as well as 20 years AD in the military. Are you referring to having the disability for 20 years? I have that but I haven't had the IU for 20 years. Can you clear this up for me please?
  3. My IU is 100% and I am questioning whether the IU will be eliminated although the rating that awarded this says, "No further exams." I'm not A&A. My real problem is is if Congress addresses the veterans that are on IU and eliminates IU for everyone. I like most vets would not appreciate a compensation decrease.
  4. I am currently 70% 100% IU and have had renal failure for 4-5 years according to VA lab results but they've only told me recently that i had a problem. In reviewing myhealthvet I see that I am at stage 3 failure. I have had hypertension sc'd for over 30 years but with CPAP usage the high bp was eliminated. If I claim sc for renal failure, will that jeprodize my IU or reopen my entire file for reexam? All of my sc are well over 20 years old. I did have toxic hepatitis in '87 due to the VA medicating me without proper followup and was within a few days of liver failure but after ceasation of the offending medication the liver returned to normal. I did file to be sc on the liver but was denied. Im wondering if that episode of liver failure coupled with hypertension caused renal failure? If I file as secondary on the renal would that be the best way to go?
  5. I am not a doctor but after researching my own claims, I find that I mentioned what my problem was specifically. Even though I had other problems associated with my "specific" they didn't address the related problems, only what I noted. There is deformity of the ankle as well as instability and loss of ROM. And recently I have found that my Stage of Renal Insufficiency is Stage 3 up from 2 which if it continues will be a 60% on kidneys due to hypertension for over30 years-high BP resolved with CPAP. I'm sorry I wasn't more prompt in my reply.
  6. I have a right ankle with traumatic arthritis (old evulsion fracture) the ankle is deformed in that it is swollen, constant pain, intermittent sharp pain with walking, some limitation of motion and occasional instability. This is s/c at 10% however, i recently was seen by a PMD with x-ray who said it was bone on bone and he gave me a parking permit so I can park in a handicapped parking spot. The old 10% is well over 30 years old and I'm wondering what the increase would be if I reopened my case with the VA?
  7. Perhaps there is link between ankle sprains Pes Planus? I think I'll research this and post the result...if I can find this thread again.
  8. Here are the Progress Notes and Consult. As for the visit that prompted the blood pressure f/u, I am certain it was a periodic PE.
  9. All I have is the diagnosis of hypertension and subsequent treatment, the inattentiveness and inappropriate responses at medical meetings which could be identified as hypersomnolence and, after being on a CPAP for several years the hypertension vanished. Meanwhile with the incorrect and erroneous diagnosis by a Physician Assistant, I have left ventricular hypertrophy, cardiomegaly, coronary artery disease, Chronic kidney disease, stage 2 and impotence.Additionally, major studies have shown that 1/2 of those diagnosed with hypertension (HTN) have OSA and one hale fo those with OSA have HTN. Moreover, studies have shown that with successful treatment of OSA the HTN is eradicated. I believe that the studies comment is certainly warranted and carries a significant burden of proof in my favor since in applies to my condition. And thank you for your honest reply!
  10. I am trying to obtain S/C for Sleep Apnea and would like for one or more (hopefully this is in the correct area for this) to review the atch letter and advise me if anything else needs to be added for an IMO.Sleep Apnea Letter.rtf
  11. I'm afraid I don't know what SMC or SMC K means, could you please tell me? I'm not housebound and do have use of legs.
  12. First off, I am a 73 year old Vietnam Vet with 70% SC as follows: 10% Hypertension, 20% Impotence, 10% Tinnitus, 10% lumbar spine, 10% Right Ankle, 10% both knees, heart 10%%, Right Shoulder 10% and Left Shoulder 10%. The hypertension was of course diagnosed in the military and now I have Cardiomegaly, Left Ventricular Hypertrophy and Coronary Artery Disease and on Statins. The Kidneys are I think with Grade II insufficiency, my left shoulder had a total Arthroplasty and is sore on a daily basis with minimal limitation of movement, right ankle has limitation of motion and pain often severe and now my left hip is hurting. (?Secondary arthritis). My PMD has given me Tramodol to alleviate the pain along with Naproxyn. My condition has progressively grown worse in my opinion even though I was awarded 100 IU in 2005. I would like to know if the heart and renal coupled with the left shoulder and right ankle worsening is worth reopening my claim? Would someone please advise me which way I should go on this? I cannot find out anything on the heart, ankle or shoulder which the VA replaced and the doctor later told me that I have subluxation of the shoulder. One final thing, I had hypertension diagnosed in 1983 in the military and subsequently was placed on hypertensive medications which I used tor maintain control until such time I was diagnosed as having Sleep Apnea and issued a CPAP Machine. After around 4 years of the CPAP my blood pressure reduced to normal pressures and I think I was misdiagnosed with hypertension when I had Sleep Apnea. I was never treated nor is there any mention of SA in my military medical records but I remember waking up gasping for air on several occasions but I thought it was saliva choking me. Opinion?
