  1. Thank you everyone for all the advice and help. As some of you know, I submitted a supplemental claim for anxiety secondary to tinnitus. That claim was granted today and i got 70%. I'm going to leave up all my posts incase anyone goggles the same issue i had and wants to submit a similar claim. I'm also going to stick around here and help fellow veterans with any questions. The only other questions I have right now is in regards to effective dates. My ebenefits under disabilities has an effective date of one day after i got out of the military in 2017. However, the benefits summary letter generator says my disabilities have an effective date of dec 1 2018. Which do i go by? thank you all again!
  2. I didn't opt in for anything. My supplemental claim was filed with new evidence in May. I understand you don't know it will be complete. I was just wondering what final review meant, really.
  3. Good afternoon everyone, On thursday I called the VA and found out my claim is in final review. Does anyone know where this falls along the timeline of being complete? Thank you Mover
  4. Some odd details you went into there but nevertheless, I got a copy of my exam by going to MyHealthVet. I could do this because my exam was through the VA. I don't think you are able because its a contract exam and you would need to file a FOIA.
  5. Thanks for the reply, Geeky I guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens or if i'm "Lowballed". I hope i'll know soon
  6. Thanks for the reply, Buck. I sure hope you're right in your assessment of my rating!
  7. Yes I'm referring to my C&P Examiner. These are all the symptoms he checked as well: X] Depressed mood [X] Anxiety [X] Panic attacks more than once a week [X] Chronic sleep impairment [X] Mild memory loss, such as forgetting names, directions or recent events [X] Impaired judgment [X] Impaired abstract thinking [X] Disturbances of motivation and mood [X] Difficulty in establishing and maintaining effective work and social relationships [X] Difficulty in adapting to stressful circumstances, including work or a worklike setting [X] Inability to establish and maintain effective relationships [X] Suicidal ideation Okay thank you for letting me know.
  8. Morning all, I've read my c&p and apparently (according to you all) it is favorable. On box 3A my doctor checked "Occupational and Social impairment with reduced reliability and productivity". Along with checking symptoms that are in both the 70 and 50% categories as well as one symptom in the 30% category. My question is will the rater simply see which box is checked in 3A and give me a rating based on that?
  9. Thank you for the reply. Do you have any guesses as to which I'll be rated? I'm guessing 50%
  10. Thanks for the reply, I understand the box 3a normally is associated with the rating but I have quite a few symptoms that belong to the 70% range, is there a chance they could rate me 70?
  11. Good morning everyone, I had my c&p exam for "Anxiety secondary to tinnitus" and I think it is favorable. If you all dont mind helping me decipher what my rating might be? 12. Thanks for the advice guys. Guess i just dont wanna mess this up
  13. Hey all, My C&P for anxiety is in a couple days from now at the VA. I specified anxiety secondary to tinnitus as some of you know. I have made up a list of symptoms i have and how they affect my daily life socially and with work. I was just wondering if anyone had any last minute tips for me as i am quite nervous Thanks everyone
  14. Thank you for the information, GB. Unfortunately, I don't have anyone to take so i'm in this alone. I have a private diagnosis, a nexus letter, and a personal statement. you suggest I bring those along? this is a MH C&P btw.
  15. Good morning everyone, After submitting a claim for GAD secondary to Tinnitus. I got a call yesterday for a C&P exam at my local VA facility. While i'm relieved i have an exam coming, I am nervous about the fact that it is at the VA. I'm aware of the negative connotations surrounding an exam at the VA rather than a contractor. Does anyone have any experiences having a MH C&P exam at a VA facility and what i can expect? Thanks y'all
  16. No sign of C&P call. A person on a forum who filed for PTSD around the same time as me received a call for a C&P exam but nothing for me yet. Just have to remember every claim is different but it certainly is discouraging!
  17. Hey Mark, Yes I've already done a C&P for Tinnitus and I am service connected for it.
  18. Thank you Bwaveteran. I hope you are right in your assessment of my case. I will certainly keep this forum updated. You guys have been more than helpful.
  19. Only that it was her opinion as a clinical psychologist. However, I submitted a research article, provided by doc25, that explores the correlation between tinnitus and mental disorders. Like you said though it is up in the air as to whether all of this will work to get me a c&p exam
  20. The credentials are attached to the letter. I just removed them for PII reasons.
  21. Hey Doc, you actually reviewed my letter before on here said it was pretty good. I will post it again here though: Re: Confidential Evaluation of (blank) Date of Birth: (blank) To Whom It May Concern: On May 7, 2019, I provided a clinical evaluation for (blank). Mr. (blank) has been suffering from Tinnitus since his service in the Marine Corps. His service in the infantry resulted in significant and persistent symptoms consistent with the Tinnitus diagnosis, Since his discharge in May of 20…, symptoms have persisted without hope of treatment by physicians. Incessant noise from the Tinnitus prevent him from obtaining adequate sleep and negatively affect his ability to concentrate or focus on his studies. The symptoms have also prevented him from retaining work. The constant noise and lack of hope for improvement have been extremely distressing for Mr. (blank). He often experiences severe panic attacks in areas including his classroom, to the extent that he needs to remove himself immediately to calm down. Mr. (blank) denies current suicidal thinking and no psychotic thinking was present. His sense of hopelessness, fear, and helplessness over the Tinnitus have contributed significantly to symptoms of both depression and extreme anxiety. According to his history, symptoms of depression and anxiety did not exist prior to his diagnosis of Tinnitus. Likewise, Mr. (blank) seemed receptive to any strategies proposed to him in the hope of managing the symptoms. All strategies attempted including meditation, supplements, sound machines, etc., have proved ineffective in managing the extreme Tinnitus symptoms. Given his current emotional state and the clear history of how and when his symptoms became apparent, it is in my strong clinical opinion that Mr. (blank) significant anxiety and depressive symptoms are more likely than not caused by his diagnosis of Tinnitus. With Mr. (blank)’s consent, please contact me with any further questions. Sincerely, Dr. (Blank) I also submitted the research article you told me to.
  22. Hello everyone As seen in the title, this is my claim. According to the VA the three elements to get an exam for secondary claims are: lay or medical evidence of a current disability or symptoms evidence of an SC primary disability (which substitutes for the in-service event, injury, or disease), and indication that the claimed secondary condition may be associated with the primary disability. With this claim I have submitted a personal statement of my symptoms, a diagnosis of mental health disorders, and a letter from a psychologist attributing my mental disorders to service connected tinnitus. I'm just wondering if based on the VA requirements if I have enough to get a C&P exam from the VA? Thanks y'all Mover1993
