John I contacted the IG about four months before I received my rating for IU/P&T. I charged the VA with fraud waste and abuse because they sent out a bogus rating letter to me. ( went to RO and was told that the letter was a mistake)I stated to them that I felt that with a such a heavy backload of claims how could they have time to send out mistaken and inaccurate rating letters?A waste of time, energy, and resources. A month later I had four C& Ps scheduled and was awarded most of what I claimed three months later. Pearl

Berta, I check the site often, and read the many posts. I still have a pending claim for the conditions that they either ignored, or rated me very low on. (DDD,carpal tunnel,LVH) I am hoping to hear something soon, I sent my NOD in last March. I had a meeting the other day with an independent living counselor. I think it went well. It is good to see that you guys are still working so hard, and getting out the info that others need to be successful with their claims. Even with your own claims being stymied you all keep pushing on. It is so unfortunate that the VA tries to make it a fight to the death. Keep up the good work. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Berta, I am sorry to see the that the VA is still after all this time ,constantly giving you the runaround with your claims. I know the frustration of hoping someone will do the right thing and rate your claim the way it should be rated. It is true that that they are supposed to consider any complications that you have that may be service connected, but like you stated they think that we are either to uninformed, too sick, or just plain not smart enough to see that they are not following their own rules. I hope your claims are resolved soon. Hang in there! Pearl

Berta, I have the same problem with my claim.They rated it under an incorrect code which gave me a lower rating. Is is more advantageous to cue the claim? The VA has it listed now as a claim for an increase. I suppose they did this because a new rating would increase my rating number. Thanks Pearl

Berta you are absolutely correct. Improper coding of a claim can cost the Vet thousands of dollars.That is what I am currently working on my claim. Mis-applying codes seems to be pretty routine for the VA. Pearl
