What helped prove my claim was as follows: I went to sick call for everything cause I always felt like something was wrong even when there wasn't. I went in for several pregnancy tests worried even after having that time of month just to make sure. I got tested for std's cause I was worried I could of gotten something. I started writing bad checks thinking shopping would make me feel better (It didn't and nothing does) I was ordered to take a class on financial management from Unit. I flunked all Pt tests trying to get out until I changed stations and then passed them all. I confided in a friend who wrote me a statement. I took written forensic test through psych to prove I was not malingering or lying about what had happened. I never reported it, I did talk to a psych dr. before getting out, but they cant seem to find those records. I got awarded ssdi for ptsd and mdd and it stated that going through a mst was more then capable of producing such a disability. I hope this helps.

congrats, I remember when I got my SSDI retro pay. It was also around Christmas. Isn't that the best Christmas present you ever received. I was mine!!! Thanks for all your advice, you all are the ones who got me where I am today sooooooo I will be writing the varo and asking for and increase. Do I have to do that within 60 days or one year? I know I could look this information up, but I'm just soooooo tired. You all already know this stuff and I dont think you really know how many vets you truly help. God Bless Oh! and this may sound kinda dumb as I have waited so long to get granted but I'm going to put my money (I haven't got it yet) in a 6 month CD for now until I can figure out something better that pays more interest and doesn't involve to much risk. I can put it in a 6 month CD and get almost 6,000 dollars interest every six months. Now if I get my percentage raised within the appeal period dont they still have to go back seven years and pay me the rest of that retro?

Okay lets see if I got this right. I got a soc in 2004 and appealed that and asked for a hearing with the DRO. I got my hearing in Oct. 2006 at the regional office and they are the ones who gave me the 50% rating. After reviewing my SSdi I realized I was awarded SS for ptsd and mdd due to the assault being capable of producing such illnesses. I have never filed a claim for mdd should I do that as secondary to ptsd as I believe I have dr's notes stating that but not sure. Maybe need to bring that up at my next psych appt. Or do I go ahead and ask for another hearing with the DRO. (Is that allowed) I got a service officer but they are sorry as owl @#$@. They told me when I asked for there help that unless it could be verified I wouldn't get nothing and it was a lost cause until I printed off cases from the BVA that proved different. I finally got them to listen 1 hour before my last hearing. Oh and that was after also writing down regulations from I think the CRF that stated what evidence was needed for mst. See I still got alot of research to do, but right now I'm kinda brain dead. Thanks

Thank you all, I found out today I have been awarded 50%. I spent so many years researching how to prove my claim that now I'm a complete dummy on what to do next. LOL I dont know how active I'll be on this board because I go through spells for a couple weeks looking on the internet and talking to people on the net then (bam) I dont want to talk or do anything for months. I wish the rest of you all that you deserve and if your still fighting a claim I wish you the best.

Hello everyone, I've been coming to this site since 2000. I long time huh! I never registered I was just a researcher and lurker. I filed my claim in Oct. 2000 and after 7 years and lost faith in the VA. I got my envelope today saying my claim had been granted. I dont know what my rating is, but hey I've been on SSDI since 2000 for the exact same thing my claim was granted for so I hope the back pay is pretty good. I just wanted to register and tell T-bird and anyone else who helps with this site I could have never done it without you. I will be sending a donation. Just to give women out there some hope I'll tell a little about my claim. I was sexually assaulted in 1989. I never reported it. I had no witnesses. I was diagnosed with PTSD in 2000. I filed claim. I had to prove my claim through buddy statements, alot of trips to sick call, getting into trouble, forensic testing etc... that this did happen and happened while I was in service. My claim was granted for PTSD. With alot of patience and other evidence you can get granted a claim for MST without having a police report in hand or reporting it, but you do have to have other evidence supporting your claim. Thanks again for helping me to develop my claim as I wouldn't have had a clue on where to even begin.
