Hello everyone.
I beat all the odds and got 100% disability for Major depression on the very first try.
I would like to thank everyone for all the valuable information I gathered here on the forums.
I got my backpay and the 1st thing I did was buy a new car and also bought a small house.
I am pretty well set now I never have to worry about paying rent or making a car payment anytime soon.
I owe you all a ton of thanks for making it alot smoother processing my claim.
It took a long year to get through this process but with all the info on this site it made things go smoothly.
Again I want to give big thanks for all the information and would like to thank Tbird especially for making such a wonderful site for us veterans.

I filed a claim for Major Depression on Sept 28 2008.
Had C+P exam on May 29 2009.
Claim was being looked at by rater starting June 12 2009.
Decision was made July 20 2009.
As of today no letter or money in bank.
So as you can see it took the rater a month and a half just to look at my claim.
Thats a job I think I could actually do.

From what I have read on this site,The VA and Social Security Office don't play nice with each other.

Worst thing I have done was take my morning pills at 7pm because I forgot to take em in the morning, then took my
night time pill at 10pm. I was so loopty I couldn't sleep or even think straight for quite awhile.
So now when I forget my morning pills(which happens way too much) I just wait til next day.
-
Congrats on the rating!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I believe its 30% for dependents but not 100% sure.
Some of the more knowledgeable people will chime in soon.

Yeah thats why I take it,at night time so I can sleep. Before that I would sleep an hour be up 2 hours sleep an hour, etc etc

I am also suffering from Major Depression,I see a Mental Health Counselor, a Mental Health Case Manager(she is a RN) and
a Phycologist. Go see all of them at least on a weekly basis accept the DR he is only there 2 days a week.
Im curious how could the C+P examiner raise your meds I thought they were not allowed to do that?
Anyhow I put my claim in for depression in sept 08 and claim has been at rater since june 12th 09.
Hopefully you will not have to wait as long as me,but also know there are people that have waited years.
Hopefully we don't fall into that group.
Oh I'm also on venaflaxine and mirtrazine and buphron(not sure if I spelled them right)
And my GAF was 50

Thanks Pete,
Yes I had my C-P May 29 2009.
Also I only have one claim in,and it is for Major Depression and well documented in my service record.
The examiner wrote up a very good report from what I can tell.
Also want to thank everyone on here for great information, did not know I could get a copy of my C-P exam
til I read it on here.

Va decides claims around 6 months time, don't make me laugh or cry.
I put my claim in Sept 08,and I know people on here who have waited years or are still waiting.
What good is a stimulus payment to the ones like myself still waitng to get approved,we don't
qualify for the stimulus check because the VA has'nt decided it we are diabled or not.
My claim was sent to the rater June 12 2009,and they are still looking at it.
What do they do come in and stare at my claim for 8 hours then go home and do the same thing the next day?
Ok think thats all I wanted to get off my chest.
Thank you for listening(reading) ;)

I'm sure every Vet remembers the term HURRY UP AND WAIT!

Hello again.
Just wanted to give another update. As of today it has been 1 month that my claim has been at the Rater.
I sent an IRIS inquiry this past thursday and no reply yet.
I also called the 1-800 # and just got same reply as before from IRIS.
I don't trust the 1-800 people too much though. I had my comp and pen exam done, called them a week later and they told me I was being scheduled for the comp and pen exam. I told them I had my exam the week before.
All they could say was OH I dont know then. HeHe

I used AVG for quite awhile but for the last 3 years I have been using Threatfire, and have no complaints about it. Have never gotten a virus while using it,but could be I was just lucky, who knows. I am far from a computer expert, but you may want to give it a try.
Also it is the free version.

Hello again,
Just wanted to give an update as to where I am now with the VA. I used the iris website and got this reply.
This is in response to your inquiry dated June 22, 2009 regarding your claim.
We thank you for your service to our country. As of June 12, 2009 we now show your claim is ready for a decision to be made. This means your claim is with the rating board and all development has been completed. One of our rating specialists is currently reviewing your claim and will soon be issuing a decision. Once the decision is authorized you will receive notification by US mail explaining all the details. Unfortunately we cannot provide an exact date as to when you may receive our letter, but we can say your claim is now in the final stages of the process.
We appreciate your patience and assistance.
Now the waiting game(Man I hate the waiting game :( )

Hi again and thank you for the quick replys.
I will definitely fill out the forms.
I was diagnosed with Major Depression not PTSD.
Was in Navy from 1/85 to 12/88 Honorable discharge.
Oh one more question I found out last friday that I have type 2 diabetes, can I file a claim for that even though its not service connected?

Hello Everyone,
What a wonderful site,Im going to be reading alot of useful information from everyone.
Ok down to my questions. On May 29 2009 I had my C+P exam for major depression.
According to the Phycologist Report I am Individually Unemployable.
Does this automatically make me eligible for 100% SC Disability?
Oh and I was in the hospital for a suicide attempt while in the Navy,so I think thats enough proof for SC,or am I way off base?
One more question and I promise I will not take up anymore of your time.
When should I expect to hear from VA out of Chicago IL?

Hello again,
Just wanted to add a little more info.
I got 100% disability. I did'nt have to go the IU route like I thought I would.
I am not scheduled for any future exams but am not holding my breath on that one.
And for Larry I bought a small one bedroom house off a relative for a really cheap price.
I got 1 year back pay. I paid more for my car then my house. haha
