  1. Are you talking about IRIS or EBenefits? For IRIS, you can call the 1-800# or you can go to the VA web-site and send them an email. EBenefits you have to go get blessed in person. I went to the local VA Hospital and got blessed, after I explained to the person blessing me what EBenefits was.

    Papa

I am talking about emails on IRIS. Do most people checking weekly, monthly, dailey etc?

  2. I have seen a few posts on other sites where some vets are telling vets that 100% is the MAX we can get!

This is not true. While 100% for one condition IS the MAX if you have other conditions and they add up to 60% then your compensation will go up based on an SMC benefit awarded. The rate tables for the SMC awards are at the same area as the regular rates just click of the SMC rates on that page and it opens up.

IN SMC it is based on severity if you have 60% then it would be SMC-S or housebound there is also rates for missing hands feet and eyes just look at the tables for SMC N M and so on.

Now when you have been awarded 100% for your Heart as I have I also was awarded SMC-S housebound because I met the % needed by my other disabilities.

Also the figure in the SMC chart is what you will be comped at not adding the other chart to this chart.

In my case at 100% + S and SMC-K (for ED) I get a check each month of 3,352.00 I thing.

    Peace brothers and sisters!

Thank you for that. I have wondered about that after reading other's postings. This really helps me understand.

  3. I have a letter from VA stating they have had my claim on IHD as of June 2009, but when I check status of claim on IRIS they state they have had the claim since February, 2010. I received notification in December 2009 to go to my C&P exam in January , 2010.

Do I wait until the decision is made or start now? The C&P exam states ischemic with efraction of 25-30% and I have a deifibulator.

  4. I have no idea how to post this on the AO forum, but wanted to share what I found on YUKU!

AN 54 has cleared by OMB and is being sent to the register. Should be in the registry by August 31, 2010. 60 day CRA period will run throug Octber 31, 2010. Source not sure what VA timetable is for notification and payment.

2900-AN54 should be readable at http://www.archives.gov/federal-register/public-inspection/ should be readable by Monday

Should be sometype of media release on Monday 8-30-10 .

  5. I had to be called in even though I too have a difibulator, but they cancelled the tread mill once they saw I had it and they just did an echo on the heart. EF were 25% mets 4-5.

  6. On this forum I have read where someone states that under VA disability ratings on IHD, if you have an ejection fraction (EF) of less than 30% you qualify for 100% disability and if you have between 30% and 60% ef then you qualify for 60% disability, etc. I have searched in vain to find where this information is found among the VA's documents on-line. Can someone please provide the link to this information?

    Thanks,

    Jim

I am not all the savy on links, hope this works for you.

SUBJ: Training Guide for the readjudication of Claims for Ischemic Heart Disease (IHD), Parkinson's Disease (PD), Hairy Cell Leukemia (HCL) and other Chronic B-cell Leukemias, and other Diseases Under Nehmer. dated May 18, 2010

This is a 128 page document that describes how the VA will provide users (VA personnel) with the information necessary to review, develop, rate, and authorize Nehmer claims for the three new presumptive conditions – hairy cell leukemia and other chronic B-cell leukemias (HCL), Parkinson's disease (PD), ischemic heart disease (IHD), and any other presumptive conditions involving in-country Vietnam service.

I found this on http://groups.google.com/group/straight-ta...litary-veterans in the Files section listed under Nehmer Training Ltr for IHD, PD amd HCL.doc

It was posted yesterday and has a lot of information that may be of interest to those Nehmer veterans wondering about how the VA is going to handle retro for past denied claims.

If you are unable to locate the document I can send you the file via email
