If the dermotologist is good they can just look at your moles and spots through an eye piece and tell if it is skin cancer. If it is pre-cancerous they freeze it. I am prone to that and I have had a couple of moles removed. It is a damn good thing to do if you are fair haired and live in a hot climate like you and me. I have been taken photo therapy with time off for good behavior during the summer. Getting ready to start again next month.
