Question

It looks real and says it is From US Treasury IRS and gives an amount of your IRS refund then says to click at a link where they obtain more info from you.

Funny thing- I just picked up my return from my tax person- and the amount of refund is actually close---

the bad part is it is close to the amount of my state refund- not the IRS one and my return went to IRS electronically-

I have gotten about 12 emails on rebate sites -these are scams-too-they cant promise a faster rebate-

if you filed a 2007 return your rebate will soon be on the way anyhow.

Disgusting-

Also CHAMPVAS- I almost threw out my new CHAMPVA pharmacy card- it comes from outfit I never heard of, but the VA letter and CHAMPVA stuff is inside the envelope.

Yes, there are so many of these now.

In this day of technology, seems like any chance they get, the scammers jump up and get to work.

Even if they only get a 1% responce to their scam before it is shut down or just finished, they make a ton of money.

To me though its even more shameful that their intended victim is usually disabled people, elderly people, or veterans.

Everybody please remember, the IRS WILL NOT contact you via email in their initial correspondence. They always contact you via snail mail until you respond, and request e-mail correspondence.

Yeah -I got the IRS rebate letter and my tax person told me to expect a rebate check-

also I was surprised to learn that for two years now I have gotten refunds on state returns -due to tuition payments-I didnt know what it was for but I asked this time-

I hope no one is overlooking that-

if you have paid tuition directly to a college-in NY at least and maybe in other states-

the school sends you a form to be filled with your State Tax return and this can trigger a rebate.

It didn't come close to what I paid in 2007 as tuition but still-I get something back from NYS.
