Question

I went down to the Social Security dep. today. I got my claim filed and sent. It only took about an hour and 30 min. And to my luck it was an ex-Marine that helped me file it. He said " Semper Fi I got ya covered." I didnt think of any questions untill I left of coarse. After I see the doc for the eval and "get Approved" will I be back payed from the date I filed? Ill be getting a lot more then I thought if im approved too. And since Ive got a kid due next year will I be payed for him too? Wish I could have thought of this stuff while I was there. Thanks for the help guys and gals.

Good Luck!!!

It does not have to be difficult to get what you have earned.

Good job on getting your SSD claim started. Remember now, even though the rep may have said "I got you covered." doesn't mean that it's a done deal, but let's just keep our fingers crossed. It's not a matter of you seeing the doc and them saying that you're approved. Your claim has to be reviewed and Social Security has to decide if you rate their disability. I'm not to sure when it comes to backpay though. When I received my decision from SSD they said that you need to be disabled for at least six months, and SSD started the month after that, no backpay, but someone else may have had a different experience. In regards to the newborn, yes, when he/she is born take a copy of the birth certificate down to SSD. If you're getting disability, then the child may rate something as well. I wish you all the best with your claim.
