I am writing my memoirs and would love it if you could help a shipmate out and look at it.

I've had a few challenges, perhaps the same as you. I relate them here to demonstrate that we can learn, overcome, and find purpose in life.

The stories can be harrowing to read; they were challenging to live. Remember that each story taught me something I would need once I found my purpose, and my purpose was and is HadIt.com Veterans.

Thank you all for your responses. I received his death certificate and the first cause of death showed overdose and listed all the meds he used. The second cause showed bipolar/PTSD so that should help me with my DIC since his only service connected disability was Bipolar II. Hopefully the VA will not fight too hard to say that his service connected disability did not contribute to his his cause of death since the coroner plainly listed it as a contributing factor.

Now it is just a waiting game for it to process. I hate that I lost my husband to suicide and then have to fight this battle too, there should be a better way.

I sure hope they accept that death certificate with the Bipolar/PTSD contributing!!!!!!

I would hate to see you go through a miserable DIC battle with the VA and this info might stop any battle in it's place.

The coroner here in NY listed # 1, ischemic heart disease, and "# 2 as strokes contributing, when my husband died and asked me for any other disabilities but then said although he was quite aware of how devastating PTSD is they dont usually list that in NY on Death certs..but hopefully would in similar NY cases....

Please keep us up to date on any status.

Were there any pending claims when he died?

simply "They(the US Army)have guns, but so do we."

Sameo to us -They (VA) have 38 CFR ,38 USC, and M21-1- but so do we.
