Nsaids And Gerd

Question

Does anyone know the threshold of when GERD can be diagnosed as related to the use of an NSAID? Is it the cumulative use over a certain amount of years? Can intermittent use cause it or does it have to be constant usage? What if you haven't used it in a good while but all of a sudden you develop GERD? How many of you with GERD and/or chronic gastritis also have a hiatal hernia?

This vet got awarded SC due to NSAID usage-

I havent read the decision over but it could give you some idea of what VA looks for- certainly if a doctor documents that your GERD is due to NSAID and gives a medical rationale for that statement- they will SC the GERD (if the NSAID is used for a SC condition)

A search at the BVA web site under GERD caused by NSAID should provide you with more info as to what the VA needs.
