Question

There has been a change!

Kurt -the recent AO Thailand awarded veteran- is interviewing Steve for this show!

Both of these men have considerable info on AO outside of Vietnam and can provide the links to where this info can be found.

I noticed that the BVA awards of AO comp to vets who served outside of Nam- excluding Korean vets who do fall into the AO regs- were awarded due to detailed documentation of how the vet was exposed.

Also the vets with awards used documentation from DOD etc- and any other source to prove that AO was where they were.

Vets have to understand that -the BVA could award a AO vet who proved he was exposed to AO -lets say on the Pipeline in Alaska-when the Army Corps of Engineers used it sporadically- but then deny the very next vets case who also claimed exposure to almost the same circumstances -yet provided VA with no documented proof it was sprayed where he was.

Every case needs justification for any award.

This is why you cannot use a BVA case from another vet to prove your own case- except maybe in some very unusual circumstances.

AO exposure outside of Nam and Korea DMZ regs requires the documented disability as found on the AO presumptive list and then a personal account -with proof- as to how you were in fact exposed to AO.

Disabilities attributed to AO NOT on the AO list have been awarded in a very few cases where the vet had a strong IMO from expert environmental specialists who were med docs too and could opine that-but for AO exposure- there was no other etiology possible for the claimed medical disability.

But the VA has denied plenty of these types of claims even with IMOs.

This will be a great show. The info these men have is extensive but their links could hold the key for many AO claimants trying to prove ecxposure outside of Nam.

Kurt Priessman, the show’s host, recently was awarded AO compensation for his exposure in Thailand! By extensive research and persistence and fortitude he certainly proved he was exposed to AO in Thailand. Kurt also provided a great show on August 6th 2008,which is in our SVR archives and available via your PC. Kurt also owns the website “ The Bottom Line” and co owns HELPPP! (Herbicide Exposure Legislative Proposal and Promotion Project).

His guest for Wednesday night, Steve Burns, Owner of http://veteransinfo.org, has an incredible amount of information available at this site that covers many aspects of the VA claims process and much that regards the AO issue. .

Steve ,a totally disabled veteran , USN, 1964-1977 , is Quartermaster for VFW Post 4995 in Thomasville, Ga. and his site is featured in an article in “War On Terror” News August 2008 ,on line at http://waronterrornews.typepad.com/home/20...ans-inform.html.

Berta, Hello

Am new to this site, and not very literate on web processes. Noticed your posting of Mr Preissman's info relating to A/O in Thailand. My claim (service connection of diabetes due to direct) exposure to A/O while stationed at Takhli RTAFB Thailand 12/66 - 12/67, was just remanded by the CAVC 7/25/08. Was told I could submit more "new" evidence. Haven't heard any word since being told it was remanded. Wondering if you could tell me how to contact him and/or possibly get access to his info. THANKS.

Tex,

The info I have begins circa late 1969 and after. I won't say it doesn't create doubt, but it doesn't prove it was used before that period. All the info can be found at http://tmai18.spaces.live.com in the folders or at http://veteransinfo.org in Steve's AO in Thailand files.

Kurt-thanks for replying to this vet-

will be talking to you one of these days as soon as I get some stuff in mail to VA-

need to hear your show again-or read the chat on that date- you mentioned something you were on to- that I was very interested in regarding the AO Equity act-----

Also any AO vet outside of Vietnam- there have been a few awards at the BVA web site in addition to Kurt-who never got to the BVA! he got a RO award.

There could be something in AO claims from vets in your locale same time and place (if there are in fact any claims like yours there) that could trigger another avenue to search for info in addition to Kurt's site-

If you can somehow prove they used it when and where-same time and place as when you were there-and that your MOS or personnel records support your exposure-

you might succeed on this claim.
