HadIt.com Elder tagandbag Posted April 29, 2009 HadIt.com Elder Share Posted April 29, 2009 Okay, I sit here and still wonder what the real facts are, not opinions. The reason I am asking about this is because I am confused. I had a colonoscopy last year at Miami VAMC and was never notified by letter or phone about the possibility of contracting hep c, b or hiv. I have had discussions with a lot of people and they are telling me, you were only notified if you had a colonoscopy with the specific unsterile equipment within certain groups. At least this is what is being spread around the veteran community at the VAMC. I learned about the unsterile equipment through hadit on VA.org. I went for the lab workup and recieved the negative results two days later, after they told me it takes two weeks. Needless to say I am confused on who should have been notified and who was not. From what I have been reading I believe there is some misinformation going on. I would factually like to know what the real story is. T&B
HadIt.com Elder jbasser Posted April 30, 2009 HadIt.com Elder Share Posted April 30, 2009 Get the notes from the procedure and read them. The machine should be identified there on the notes. This will be kind of like a time out before a procedure. Then Ask the VA to provide you the info on the suspected machine and compare them. Do this using a very low profile because if they mis- informed you they are liable. J
