SLEDGE
Comrades, They keep telling me to take atenolol for my high blood pressure. They keep telling because the side effects ruin my quality of live, or what's left of it and that encourages me to stop taking it. Dizziness, nausea, eyesight blurring/fluctuations, G.I. tract bloating with constipation and a lack of appetite. I think I might be having a contraindication going on here. I'm taking several other drugs for PTSD, depression, arthritis, too much blood fat, pain, fibromyalgia and also consuming a full size aspirin. Any suggestions other than doctor death? sledge
Berta
http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginf...ds/a684031.html info on atenolol Tom- it would pay for you to google each med you take, one at a time to see if there are contra-indications from the other meds. Medline is a very good info site on meds. But no one should stop taking any HBP med. If it causes you problems they should try to find an alterative HBP med. I sure hope these docs make sure they check every med a vet is on-to see if any meds are affecting other meds they take. You could be correct that something is contraindicating something else. HadIt.com Elder john999 Posted October 9, 2009 HadIt.com Elder Share Posted October 9, 2009 There are lots of other drugs for HBP. I was taking one drug and it made me cough. So I switched to another durg which is probably slowly killing me without my knowledge. At least the cought went away.
HadIt.com Elder Pete53 Posted October 10, 2009 HadIt.com Elder Share Posted October 10, 2009 For many of us who are diabetic High Blood Pressure burns up your kidneys. We have to take something. Lisnopril is the med that causes a cough and I had to swith also to Corsar or Losartin which is a very expensive med but works pretty well. My BP;s are running under targer most of the time. Ricky
I take four atenolol per day plus two other HBP meds. If you have DM which will more than likely lead to CAD Atenolol is the drug of choice for heart docs. They says it helps to slow the heart therefore, decreasing the need for oxygen in the heart. It also causes panic symptoms such as chocking/lump in the throat, ED, etc........
