Mcafee
Hello All Hope All Is Well. I was issued a Tens Unit for my conditions,my question is any of you utilize a Tens unit, for how long and if any side effects? This has only provided temporary relief and sometimes not even that just exacerbates or creates more spasms. Content Curator/HadIt.com Elder Vync Posted February 15, 2010 Content Curator/HadIt.com Elder Share Posted February 15, 2010 I had an old one, issued by a private chiropractor, but the unit kept giving me random strong shocks. The VA gave me a new unit in November. I usually use it for about 1-2 hours about 3-4 times a day. I have had no adverse problems, as long as the pads were in good shape and I kept the settings to a reasonable level. It helps give me relief for about an hour or two after I use is. It is also great for muscle spasms.

I used one for my right shoulder for almost ten years, wouldn't leave home without it! It gave me enough relief to distract me from the constant pain. I've had no ill effects from using it. Only when the pads slipped off and gave me an unwelcome jolt. LOL :D

Content Curator/HadIt.com Elder Vync Posted February 15, 2010 Content Curator/HadIt.com Elder Share Posted February 15, 2010 I'm not 100% sure, but I doubt it is a requirement for an increase. I think it is good supporting evidence. The pads usually last about 5-7 days, with daily use. I got mine from the VAMC and I request replacement pads from prosthetics monthly. hedgey
Vync, How do you get the prosthetics people to give you new pads? Do you just call them or do you need a prescription from your PCP? Thanks!
