The VA typically takes out a small deductible (I think it is $6.00 or so) when they issue travel pay. Does anyone know if we still have to pay the deductible once we go over 50% SC?

Page 3/8 item #6. public Law 110-387 required VA to reduce(and freeze) the deductible amounts to those originally specified in 38 U.S.C. &111©(5). Effective January 9, 2009 the Benificiary Travel Deductable was reduced to $3.00 one way or $6.00 round trip or max. of $18.00 per calendar month. The $18.00 is the total deductable for one month to ALL VA facilities. Reguardless of the deductable amount withheld per trip, deductable requirements end after 6-one way (3-round) trips in a calendar month. SHOULD A VETERAN BE GOING TO MUTIPLE FACILITIES, AND THE VETERAN NOTES THIS WHEN APPLYING FOR TRAVEL REIMBURSEMENT, IT IS INCUMBENT UPON THE FACILITY PROVIDING THE CARE AND TRAVEL TO CONTACT OTHER VA FACILITIES TO DETERMINE IF THE DEDUCTIBLE IS MET.

We were told by an (insider) that you get paid even if only for a few miles, sooo after your deductable is met the place you go which is the fartherest you will get the full amount. We learned the had way you naturally have to ask. e says they taught you how to walk, talk and they're your momma, but do as you're told just don't ask questions!!! So sorry that's over!!! Carolyn
