jafa
I posted this elsewhere but repeat it here as it was referenced. Big brown envelope. I started the claim process after I heard about the "Ischemic thing" last fall. I used my local VSO. Paperwork was dated Nov 01 2010. My region is New York. Most of the actual exams were in the Albany, NY VA Hospital. The claim processing was apparently done in NYC, NY. Mailed to me, stamped as Nov 012010. Payment start dates were Dec 1, 2009 and May 1, 2010 (differing because of "grants of increased evaluation." Effective date of Nov 23, 2009 (Coronary artery disease claimed as ischemic heart disease (Nehmer Grant)). Award granted 30% for ischemic heart , 20 % diabetes II, 10% Tinnitus, Hearing loss service connected but 0%. Rating of 30% heart developed from 7 Mets rating during VA hospital C&P stress test & 60% ejection rate taken from private hospital record when initial 3 stents were inserted for coronary artery blockages. I went through all the hoops that everydody else has done. There were many pages of "evidence developed for claim, decision rational, service history etc." Also other pages of items "subject to compensation, Combined evaluations for compensation. I hope this helps. Good Luck
Berta
GREAT!!! I think you are the first hadit AO IHD success story!!!!!! I guess the checks are really going out!!!!!!! That is a good retro effective date under Nehmer. I wonder how they determined that date as I assume you had never been denied for IHD before???? This is GREAT news- I only found one other award so far under the new AO regs at veteransinfo.org.
