Backwards- Ssd First, Filing For Va Compensation Now

I was told not to bother to apply for compensation when I got out even though I had multiple problems upon release. I was BS'd during the exit exam now that I finally have my records I realized they did not include my conditions then. I was completely disabled (SSD) years ago and spent almost 6 more years having surgeries for that condition which i believe was initially caused by a service related accident. Do I attach my SS award to my VA claim( which will include other issues that have become worse)? Will it hinder , help or retard any increased compensation in the future?

If you get SSDI SOLELY for what becomes a Service connected issue then you should apply for TDIU.

You will have to prove the accident and then prove your present disabilities are directly due to that accident.

Do the SSDI records reveal your SSDI is a result of this inservice accident?

Do you have your complete SMRs?

Are you familiar with any of your units web sites in case you need buddy statements?
