john6012
This problem is not SC but I hav ehad a clogged Eustachian tube since Oct of 2010 and have taken al knds of anthihistimimes such as Benedryl, Sudafed, etc. Tried a Nettie Pot, Valsalva Manuever-still won't pop, even tried Physical Therapy. Gone to an ENT Doc who ordered an MRI which was normal. And now I'm stumped, I can't fly in an aircraft for fear of blowing my eardrum out (But I have heard that sometimes this alleviates the dysfunction). Do any of you kind folks have this Eustachian Tube dysfunction and if so, what are oyu doing for it an did it ever resolve on it's own? Acpuncture? Chiropractor? Thanks and hurry before I go nuttier! Content Curator/HadIt.com Elder Vync Posted July 4, 2011 Content Curator/HadIt.com Elder Share Posted July 4, 2011 Do you happen to also have allergic rhinitis, sinusitis, or a deviated septum? My doc said all of these contribute to my eustachian tube issue. They also gave me Nasonex and Astelin nasal sprays, which have helped somewhat. I was told that the eustachian tube opening in the rear of the sinus cavity gets clogged, swollen, and/or infected, so the docs recommended some sinus procedures to potentially offer some relief, but I have not had any procedures yet. john6012
I have a deviated septum and have tried sprays of all kinds to no avail. I'm really at a loss as what to do, my ENT MD said he may send me to a specialist who deals in this type of thing but after researching the internet and reading books on the subject the problem ahs to tresolve itself I guess. Content Curator/HadIt.com Elder Vync Posted July 5, 2011 Content Curator/HadIt.com Elder Share Posted July 5, 2011 jbasser, My doc is hesitant to install ear tubes at this time because no liquid was visible behind the ear drum. Do you think it may be possible to get the eustachian tube dysfunction SC secondary to allergic rhinitis/sinusitis? john6012, A specialist might be your best option. I found this link which describes some of the issues and potential solutions. HadIt.com Elder jbasser Posted July 5, 2011 HadIt.com Elder Share Posted July 5, 2011 If septoplasty is an option, I would try it. It helped me but mine is neurological.
