Question

If you have a condition/issue on active duty and you did not seek medical treatment for it between the time you got off active duty and the time you filed a claim. CAN IT BE SERVICE CONNECTED? Let me explain this a little better my VSO told me that to get service connected for anything you must prove medical treatment and that it has been a problem since you left the service. I have two conditions that I got on active duty that I have pretty much treated myself for since getting them. I have seen a doctor for one of them a couple times but, mostly treated them myself.

I need to make a decision as to whether I need to fire my VSO or not.

it might depend on how long you have been out of the military a few years or 10 or more it will make a difference

The Court of Veterans Appeals noted that symptoms, not treatment, are the essence of any evidence of continuity of symptomatology. See Savage v. Gober, 10 Vet.App. 488, 496 (1997) citing Wilson v. Derwinski, 2 Vet. App. 16, 19 (1991) (“regulation requires continuity of symptomatology, not continuity of treatment”).

Fire the VSO he gave you bad information. It may be hard to do it but if its noted in your records even without medical treatment you can link with a good imo.

Example flat feet were notes on my separation physical. I asked for it and all I needed to say was I treated on my own with good shoes and other crackpot ideas. I got 30% after C&P
