Dipper
My question is simply, can I get contact lenses from the VA?
Michellee
No you can't. I have ask the same for the last three years from the the VA eye doc who perscribes my glasses and he had this long explanation to give. So basically he stated the VA doesn't do contact. That is what I was told. Anyone with different results please chime in. But that is what I was told. I am 100% P & T and that didn't matter either. So I guess they are saving money that way. trailblazer
They wouldn't prescribe them for me either. The reason was: Glasses protect your eyes from foreign objects. Contacts don't.
Interested
Yes, if you have keratoconus. My question is simply, can I get contact lenses from the VA?
kookiebean2001
Correct you have to be medically required to wear contacts. In some cases they have to contract out with a civliian doctor becuase the military just doesn't have the staff any more. I do have Keratoconus. HadIt.com Elder john999 Posted October 21, 2011 HadIt.com Elder Share Posted October 21, 2011 I could not even get the cheapskates to do cataract surgery on me and I was blind as a bat. They gave me glasses with a lense about half an inch thick. I got medicare to pay for it and got my cataract surgery. The glasses I had got from the VA before were sort of like the ones issued by the Army.
