vietvet
Hello: I received a diagnosis of chronic PTSD "on a C&P exam" Without any other information at the moment. I am unemployed and unable to work; the examiner was very responsive to me during the interview. My paperwork from the Vet Center also felt and explained their reason why I should be granted IU. I am currently 60% (non PTSD). Can the examiner grant me IU or do I have to attend another C&P. Any thoughts. Thanks for your time. carlie
What is your current 60 percent SC for and what percentage for each, if more than one condition ? Also, what did the Vet Center state as their opinion and medical rationale to support the opinion ? vietvet
Thanks for your reply. I have 20% diabetes, + (Left & Right) 10% bilaterals for diabetic neuropathy upper + (Left & Right) 10% bilaterals for diabetic neuropathy lower, and also 10% for tinnitus. Rationale was I am unable to work because of my loss of memory "needed" as a letter carrier, and also my hands had become weakened because of my diabetic neuropathy, which is super important as a letter carrier. I left my job after 17 years because I could not continue. That was 2 yrs. ago, I was 62. Again, thanks!
carlie
At 60 percent and the conditions you posted, I personally do not feel this would warrant a grant for IU. Reason being that there are other avenues, types of employment that the SC disabilities would not preclude you from. NOW should a claim for PTSD be granted, that would certainly be helpful and in the end could result in either an increase, 100 percent scheduler or IU. meghp0405
I agree with Carlie, one of the requirements for TDIU is that you need at least a 40%, on a singular service connected disability. Which in turn, this disability prevents you from being employed. The 20% and 10% for diabetes and neuropathy don't preclude you from working. The 60% sounds like your overal rating, however, without the 40% singular rating, TDIU can not be granted.
vietvet
My bilaterals are for (4) 10% diabetic neuropathys. Don't they total 40%?

Was the retirement a Medical retirement from the Post Office?
