Question

Hey, this is my first post on Hadit.com but I have been browsing this forum on and off for the past few months. I am a service-connected vet rated @ 30%, since I was discharged from Active Duty from the Marines in 2003. I should have filed to increase long time ago, but unfortunately I did not have the knowledge or any clue on what to do. According to E-benefits my increase was dated as of 10/31/2012. The expected time of completions states is 10/16/2013 to 05/01/2014. Just recently in the actions area I see a link that says upload documentation. It is on the Under Review portion. I have a 2 part question. Do I need to actually upload any documentation via E-Benefits. Also I have read a bunch of threads and it looks like increases more or less will take 24 months minimum. So the timeline that is listed I am assuming it will be beyond that?

Any help I would definitely appreciate.

Cheers

Welcome.

Q 1 - Did ebenefits ask you to upload any documentation ?

Q 2 - There are NO timelines for the VA to process claims

whether it's an original claim or a claim for increase.

Welcome.

Q 1 - Did ebenefits ask you to upload any documentation ?

Next Steps:

We will review all available evidence and make a decision on your claim upon receipt of all requested information as outlined in the headings, "What Do We Still Need from You?" and "What Have We Done?".

Several factors will determine the duration of the "Development" phase, including:

  • type of claim filed
  • number of disabilities you claim
  • complexity of your disability(ies), and
  • availability of evidence needed to decide your claim.

Q 2 - There are NO timelines for the VA to process claims

whether it's an original claim or a claim for increase.

I appreciate the feedback! I am hoping that it gets completed ASAP, just in case I have to appeal because I know that will take an additional 1-2 years I am assuming.

Any claim whether it is orginal or re-evaluation is at the mercy of current workload. Unless you are one of the priorities such seriously disabled Vet, homeless, 70 or older, or financial hardship a rater will get to your claim when they get to it just like everyoneelse.
