He told me some time ago that I should get Med by mail so I dont have to pay CO pay.

I hope all CHAMPVAers like me know that.

(however, I witnessed a severe VA med mail error years ago from our local VAMC pharmacy so I never changed to Meds by Mail...

and maybe I should. I only take one med).They have become a lot more careful these days in all VA Pharmacys.

To add....my doctor recommended the shingles shot because I had chicken pox as a kid.

She said the shot is costing between 250 and 300 bucks.

I paid only 59 bucks via CHAMPVA at Walgreens.

It doesn't prevent shingles for former chicken pox people , but does prevent how very intense and painful shingles could become.

My SC disabled neighbor got the shot for free from the local VA.

Berta I bet if you check with your VAHC that they would give it to you too.

Many of the VA hospitals allow spouses to be treated there. You should call your or stop by the eligibility office. I have heard the only ones that don't is because they are to busy.

The local VA treated me in the past,but after a survivor gets Medicare, in addition to CHAMPVA, then I dont think VAMCs will treat them but worth a 'shot' to find out.

I know they gave my other neighbor (SC 10%) a free flu shot and even gave one to the woman who lives with him but isn't spouse or common law etc...just a friend of his. and not a vet either.

Walgreens bills my Medicare I think for the flu shots.

PS all, Walgreens told me they advise everyone to make sure to come back this October (I usually put off flu shot until December.) because of the new bird flu strains .
