Cataract Surgery On Wednesday

Question

Greetings

Well, I will have cataract surgery on my left eye Wednesday morning. I have diabetes and currently rated zero percent for bilateral cataracts. Only one eye will be done now because it is in bad shape. Should I wait until the surgery is completed before putting in a claim for an increase? What would the rating percentage be?

Best Regards
Chiefhouse

6027 Cataract of any type:
Preoperative: no rating
Evaluate based on visual impairment.
Postoperative:
If a replacement lens is present (pseudophakia), evaluate based on visual impairment.
(the VASRD here has a lot more info on that. which cannot be determied until post surgical exam).

"If there is no replacement lens, evaluate based on aphakia.
6029 Aphakia or dislocation of crystalline lens:
Evaluate based on visual impairment, and elevate the resulting level of visual impairment one step.
Minimum (unilateral or bilateral) 30
