Question

My husband has been at 100% with smc L for about 3 years now but last week he was diagnosed with ALS. He has lose most the use of his legs and one arm. I don't know if I should file a claim for his ALS or just let it be. My husband and I don't have the energy or time to invest in another claim that can take years for. Any one have any advice. I appreciate this site and its help to veterans and spouses. God Bless

In 2008, ALS became presumptive for service connection.

YES - Personally I would most definitely apply for any benefits that might be

available.

Here is a link to a form you can print out, take to his doctor to fill out and sign,

then make another copy to submit to your VARO - ASAP.

It should be approved without hesitation.

Good luck to you both.

Please file the claim immediately. Ask VARO to make it effective on date of diagnosis.

Good Luck

Veterans deserve real choice for their health care.
