The Hagel Memo And Oth Vietnam Vets

Question

This is info here under a search as well as one or two radio shows we did on this important "Memo"

but Asknod has explained it all here:

https://asknod.wordpress.com/2015/02/26/how-many-of-the-250000-other-than-honorable-discharges-in-the-vietnam-era-were-due-to-ptsd/

I have seen lately a few posts here that might fall into this OTH criteria.

And it bears repeating anyhow because I bet their are still many Vietnam vets who got a OTH.... due to PTSD,( which was not even recognized by VA until 1982) and maybe they also were deemed to have a bogus personality disorder.

GRADUATE ! Nov 2nd 2007 American Military University !

When thousands of Americans faced annihilation in the 1800s Chief

Osceola's response to his people, the Seminoles, was

simply "They(the US Army)have guns, but so do we."

Sameo to us -They (VA) have 38 CFR ,38 USC, and M21-1- but so do we.

Good point, Berta.

"OTH" probably means to the Veteran:

"Oh, by the way, you just fell through the cracks. You wont be getting any VA benefits until you fight for at least 14 years to get them." (The Vietnam war, according to VA, lasted from):

  • Vietnam era (February 28, 1961 – May 7, 1975 for Veterans who served in the Republic of Vietnam during that period; otherwise August 5, 1964 – May 7, 1975)
