Question

First I am totally and permantly disabled, is that considered 100%, Non Service conected, I draw Aid & Attendance too and may be a few fries shy of a happy meal, hehe, so please bear with me.

I was on Medicaid benefits for 7 years before switching to VA Benefits as they payed more. I do not have a Medicaid card now. Can I get a Medicaid card just to pay for Doctor visits that the VA Clinic here in Panama City, FL does not supply. Everytime I need something, a Ex-Ray, eye glasses whatever they want me to go out of town to a VA hospital in ALA to get this done, I have a caregiver who can not see to drive at night and the old truck she drives probably would not make it, I am very close to homebound, can hardly walk, talk, can't write, don't dream, memory loss, no death perception, double vision, so I wear eye patch for that, had 2 eye operations to no avail, well the list goes on and on. I hate to have to move, any kind of movement.

I do not want Medicaid to pay me money in anyway, just to be able to see Doctors when needed here local,

would this mess up my VA benefits, How would I apply or who would I call as I was already approved for Medicaid once and was on it for 7 years.

Also my caregiver changed, do I notify anyone, who?

Am I eligible for fee-basis care?

Inquiry

Am I eligible for fee-basis care?

FAQ

All veterans are potentially eligible for fee-basis care; however, the decision to utilize such care is left to the facility providing your care. By law, fee-basis care can only be provided when your treating facility cannot provide you the care you require or because of geographical inaccessibility.

Fee Program (Non-VA Care)

Veterans requesting medical care through the VA Health care System should first seek to obtain care in VA facilities. You may contact the Registration and Enrollment Office at the nearest VA Medical Center for information about your VA health care benefits.

Sometimes VA cannot provide necessary medical care and services. VA may authorize medical care provided health care in the community for those veterans that meet the eligibility requirements. The VA authorization will specify:

Medical services that VA approves

Length of period for treatment

Amount that VA will pay

All VA authorized services must be approved before the veteran receives treatment. However, it may not be possible to contact VA prior to treatment in life-threatening emergency situations. Each individual veteran’s eligibility status and medical care needs are reviewed to decide whether community treatment can be approved. Medical care and services that VA may authorized through community providers may include:

Outpatient Medical Treatment (Office visits)

Medical Diagnostic Services (Laboratory and Imaging)

Inpatient Hospital Care

Outpatient Emergency Room Care

Emergency Ambulance Transportation

Home Health Care

Hospice Care

Community Nursing Home Care

Pharmacy Services

Home Oxygen Services

Bowel and Bladder Care for Spinal Cord Injury

Dialysis Services

Chiropractic Care

Maternity Care

Services may be limited to veterans who are determined to be legally eligible. Veterans with questions about community care benefit should contact the local VA Medical Center Fee Basis Department, VA Primary Care Provider or VA Medical Center Patient Representative.
