Question

My husband was 100% disabled before he died in Oct.2016. He was not given this rating until mid year 2011. I was told that I could receive education benefits up to 10 years after my husbands 100% disability rating. I have not used any and was wondering if our son who is now 31yrs could use them instead of me?

Thank you, Lisa.

Then you should be eligible for DIC, since your husband died of a service connected injury.  Its about an extra 1280 per month for you.

I recommend you apply for DIC pronto.

JohnsWidow,

The "E-3 Seaman" is related to the number of posts you have made.  The more posts the higher the rank.  And the rank structure for posts for "enlisted ranks" and is "Navy" which is a little different from Army and Air Force.

Makes no never-mind either way, just the number of posts.
