Question

Hi All, I am currently 70% IU, P&T  since November of 2011. I also have a rating of 20% for my lower back.  This comes up to a rating of 80%. I have been told that I qualify for SMC. I am trying to find out the details.Any answers will be greatly app[reciated. Thanks in advance.

If you had TDIU plus a 60% rating unrelated to the TDIU then you would be eligible for housebound.  That is how I got it.  I got TDIU in 2002 and a 60% rating a few years later and thus the "S".  You don't need to be scheduler 100% but you need to be totally disabled as in TDIU.

Got it. The 70% represents your TDIU rating. If you can get an additional 50% to go with your 20%, then you'll have enough to get SMC S.
