marine1175
I have a question about retroactive pay, my disability compensation is being taken to recoup my separation pay until 09/2021. I want to add both my parents as dependents which will give me retro-pay. Will that retro pay be recouped from me?
0 Berta
That is a good question_ I don't know the answer- but believe it would be part of the disability recoupment at this point. This link has the requirements for dependent parents and SC comp for them. If you apply for them as your dependents, if they are now your dependents , maybe that would bring a faster end to the recoupment amount....hard to say- and maybe the recoupment might even be settled by time the VA even works on the dependency claim. I posted this link from Hill and Ponton, vet lawyers- Matt Hill is a member of hadit... It has the parental dependency requirements a ways down the pages and even has a pop up Chat- maybe you could ask them your question at their site. https://www.hillandponton.com/dependent-claims-dont-forget-claim-potential-benefits/
0 Moderator broncovet Posted July 16, 2020 Moderator Share Posted July 16, 2020 Probably not. Go ahead and add your parents. The amount subtracted for seperation probably wont be affected by your adding dependents. What did you agree to? Did they send you a letter, stating what would be deducted from seperation pay?
