We had some questions about survivors benefits (Treysonna), and maybe others.

To summarize, in order for a widow to get DIC (DIC is a pension of around $1562 per month, and usually more, based on number of dependents, etc) one of these 2 needs to apply:

1.  Your spouse died of a Service connected condition.  This often needs to be supported by autopsy to determine cause of death.  

2.  If your spouse died of ANY cause "after" his effective date for P and T has been 10 years or more.  The effective date is not the same as the "date of VA decision".  Instead, the decision should give an effective date, that is the number that needs to be 10 plus years.
