Whodat
Hello all, So I am helping a Vietnam vet that has served for over 20 years. This vet happens to be my dad. Did all of his forms, all info. Most if not all of his treatment was done at the VAMC after his retirement. Get a letter today asking for medical release info. Wtf?

0 Whodat
If that's the case, why put places of treatment on a new claim? Duh. It does ask that.
0 Moderator broncovet Posted April 4, 2023 Moderator Share Posted April 4, 2023 (edited) Yep. If the information isnt released, dont expect a claim to be awarded. Its been that way. The VA does not have automatic access to your records, until you consent to it. You dont have to sign the consent, but VA does not have to award benefits if you dont. Your fathers claim "is on hold" until that consent is received. The sooner you mail it back in, the sooner your benefits can happen. 0 Whodat
Great, @Stayfocus@bronco, thank for the information. I just never had that happen to me before. I thought that since treatment was done at the VA, med records would be easy to get.
0 Moderator broncovet Posted April 5, 2023 Moderator Share Posted April 5, 2023 They "are" easy to get..with the Veteran's permission.
