samalw
Pete, The one person who doesn't have an e-mail address on the committee is Rep. LaVia. I faxed her my letter just minutes before she was added to the committee. We won't know 'til it's over. Also, I had to dig to find Rep. Zalewski's e-mail address as it was not posted in the ilga.gov website. His address is: 'mikezalewski@gmail.com' Keep plugging away!!!! Al
putintime
Al, I also faxed her last week and today at both her Faxes, I am positive your Fax put her on our side. We need her, she is the only Veteran on the Revenue & Finance Committee. I am also looking ahead and noticing that we have close to 20 legislative districts that both Representatives from that district have Co-Sponsored HB 0273. It may mean nothing, but I look at historical trends, and we are doing things that have never been achieved before. With that being said, I am going to go back to past IGA legislation sessions and see which Senators have Co-Sponsored past veteran legislation on this issue regardless it be HB's or SB's and what happened. samalw
We now have 60 co-sponsors of HB0273 with 7 signing on today. This is a majority in the 118 member IL House of Representatives. Theoretically, it should pass the House. I suppose a committee could shoot it down. The Senate is going to be the tough nut to crack!!!!!
putintime
That is true, BUT....Let us continue to take these baby steps... 1. 60 Co-Sponsors before the 1st committee meeting is a good thing! 2. 5 of the 12 committee members are already Co-Sponsors. 3. Out of 59 Legislative Districts in all of Illinois, 16 of them already have both Representatives that have Co-Sponsored this legislation. 4. Public Act 95-644 (HB0644) passed 17 Oct 07, started as HB0664 and had quite abit of ammendments movement / added and tossed back and forth between the House & Senate before finally approved. 5. The terminology of of Public Act 95-0644 Sec. 35 ILCS 200/15-169 new, still has burps in it. 6. HB0273 is very specific and to the point, nobody can question what exactly is being said or the intent of it. All we can do is DRIVE ON and stand up for what is RIGHT for Illinois Disabled Veterans!!!!! Take Care putintime
samalw
Five more co-sponsors of HB0273 signed on today. The total is now 65. Don't know the results of today's scheduled hearing of this bill in the IL Revenue & Finance Committee yet.
