What Would The Diagnostic Code Be For Barretts Esophagus ?
jcolwell replied to roses15534's question in VA Disability Claims Research
I have GERD which progressed to Barretts esophagus. i also had EGD showing Hiatal Hernia. The literature supports that chronic indigestion +reflux, can lead to GERD. Untreated GERD leads to Barretts E which is tissue dysplia in the esophagus. I dont know the answer you need but should be found in the Gastrointestinal section. I was once told it is GERD I should be filing for not Barretts. I hope you get EGD q 2 years if you do have Barretts. Good Luck -

diabetes Fully Developed Claim
jcolwell replied to jcolwell's question in VA Disability Claims Research
"Maybe you meant the reply and pdf file you put here?." Yes, I did, should have said posting....no emails for you. Just posting the PDF for comments from group etc. Jim and Patsy -
Not the expert here , but i would send all those records. My husband case is very similar to yours . He has ventricular cardiomyopathy ( CAD) and he has a AICD. If you have a primary care physician you may want to consider sending those records as well if it is non-va doctor. Have you been evaluated for Diabetes or any chronic renal diseaes ( abnormaL lab reports can pick this up )you may want to look at those to make sure nothing is out of order, I did and found out I had both. Hope you dont go down that road. Also, is SSDI something you might qualify for. My problem is I am not boots on ground so have a much harder row to go down. Good luck with all Jim

diabetes Fully Developed Claim
jcolwell replied to jcolwell's question in VA Disability Claims Research
Not a problem I wanted your input because you tell it like it is.......There is no room for gray in dealing with VA . Yes, we have already sent the info to the VA over one year ago. Actually my wife is a RN and has worked with hospital denials etc for years and handles my claim. I think she can quote the Thailand stuff etc. So now with that said , should i send a letter to them telling them to work the case and we having nothing else to offer. This AO stuff is very confusing and part of our denial was using the word AO instead of Direct exposure for Thailand. I am lucky to have someone who understands the process etc. Thanks Jim and Patsy ( the one who does all the work) -
diabetes Fully Developed Claim
jcolwell replied to jcolwell's question in VA Disability Claims Research
Berta, My MOS was Jet Engine Mechanic , placing me on perimeter and trips down to test cell on perimeter. I also was a security augmentee for one month with the 432nd Security police and worked in towers at night. . My military files dont have the augmentee duty because orders were not cut if TDY was less than 89 days. The 432nd Vietnam security police roster at their web site ( VSPA) has me listed on their list with a ID # but they cannot find out how I got on the list. I am usign this as evidence as well along with some buddies letters stating it was expected that the 432nd FMS would help with security. Thanks for your response Jim -
diabetes Fully Developed Claim
jcolwell replied to jcolwell's question in VA Disability Claims Research
I failed to say that the reason for denial was lack of evidence for herbicide exposure on perimeter. Medical evidence is not a issue. I want the claim completed as quick as possibe at DRO because i think i might be more sucessful at the BVA based on some other Thailand claims I have read. Jim -
Would like input on potential for fully developed claim. Thailand veteran 1970 Orginal claim: 4/2011 IHD, GERD, Chronic renal disease Denied: 10/11 Appeal: 10/11 at DRO Filed new claim 9/12 for Diabetes 2, depression , HTN All of my care is via private physicians . QB submitted for all of the above. All medical records submitted by me to VA. I have nothing else to give them . Should I go ahead and file FULLY DEVELOPED CLAIM CERTIFICATION (COMPENSATION) or it too late to do this ? Thank you jim

Thank you , I think I will wait for the bigger claims , I have also completed a Congressional Inquiry with AZ John Mc Cain............They have responded.........we will see. what is EDD by writing a 21-4128 statement . I know the form is a support of statement but what exactly should I be saying..........Thanks ......the wait does suck when you have all this crap. I would go back to work in a heart beat to give up the horrible disease I have. I worked for 25 years for a major airline and really do miss the work. thanks again JIm

Currently in appeal is IHD ith AICD, GERD, Chronic renal diease Not filed yet : HTN, DM 2, essential tremors, ED with all the meds, depression . On SSDI I only go to VA yearly to get meds renewed. I use my private docs for all my care . I have never had a C and P. Records from all the specialist I have have been accepted. It is the proof of on or near perimeter that I struggle in proving. Thanks for reading my info and sending the link. Jim
