  1. I just read this and wanted to pass it along.

Musinex DM - Improper use of this medication (abuse) may result in serious harm (e.g., brain damage, seizure, death). Do not increase your dose, take it more frequently, or use it for a longer time than directed.

I'm also concerned about long term use of Guaifenesin. As I stated in an earlier post Omeprazole works well for heartburn. Which is worst coughing or heartburn?

I also take Gabapentin for pain. I have gained 30 lbs; yet if I stop taking it I'm in a lot of pain. Yet I am supposed to exercise. I still have some pain and more weight therefore sometimes it is difficult to exercise. I feel like a cat chasing it's tail.

  2. Omeprazole makes me sick. I use Ranitidine. The Ranitidine works good.

The mucus in my lungs and coughing is cleared by guaifenesin (musinex).

If you go to the store, you can get Musinex DM (600 mg). Jerrel told me about this. I was almost dying from so much flim in my lungs. This Musinex DM cleared it up in a couple of days. I couldn't believe it. I have been calling him Dr. Jerrel ever since.

Musinex is Guaifenesin. The VA will give you Guaifenesin 600mg SA tabs. Tell your PCP that you heard it would clear up the flim in your lungs and help with the coughing. I would start with the Musinex DM from the store for a test first.

    Pete,

I don't take Lisnopril but several other drugs. I will check for other drug reactions.

    Thanks

  3. I have been on Omeprazole for a long time. I have had a dry cough for about 18 months. Chest films are clear and Ear, Nose & Throat Doctor states no problems.

Has anyone else had this problem with this drug?

It works really well for my heartburn and I wouldn't know what kind of drug to request to replace it?

  4. Berta, I had a medical review maybe 3-4 years ago. It proved I had had non Hodgkin's lymphoma. I am in remission however have side effects from the treatment. I believe I will have them until I die. I am trying to prove location in Korea for AO(68-69).They haven't agreed with me yet. I have a lot of lay evidences and they were going to check with DOD. I understand lay evidences should carry weight if they can't find evidence to disagree. Also do you know of anyone who has had luck with a Senator? Thanks.

  5. My claim went to the AMC in Sept. I was contacted in November for more info. Early December they received it per P.O. They stated I had 30 days to return it which I did. They said they may decide my claim within 30 days if they had completed their attempt to get all the relevant evidences.

From what I have read here it will be much longer. Also I contacted my Senator as my claim is over 5 years old. Has anyone had any luck doing this?

  6. Korea 68-69 - not DMZ. A request to be made of DOD inventory of herbicide operations to determine whether herbicides were used or tested as alleged. If not verified then a request should be sent to the JSRRC for verification. The RO/AMC must comply with provisions of VA's Adjudication procedure Manual to attempt to verify veteran's claim of exposure.

  7. I was denied service connection due to exposure to AO. I appealed, went to Washington, DC for a hearing at the VA. I finally received a response today. The case has been remanded to the RO. I assume this is good news. I also assume my records will be returned to the RO and I should only wait for a decision. Any info would be appreciated. Also does the RO normally reverse their denial? Thanks
