  1. I to am 100% for ptsd and am starting college at AMU this month. I think there is not a problem as long as you do the college work on line and not go to college and sit in a classroom. And dont go telling your shrink about it keep it to yourself. I have to pay out of pocket its 700.00 a class at AMU. But like you its been 2 years since I got IU and I need something to do.

    Cal,

So you didn't get the VA to foot the bill? Or did you think that it was too risky? Would like to know because that AMU sounds good especially if I can work on line. Thanks for the info.

  2. My friend, your P&T is not P&T if you show improvement like being able to work. SSDI will give you a chance but the VA may crack down on you if they find out regardless of being P&T. I am P&T for 7 years, but that does not mean the VA won't whack me.

I have had this discussion once before regarding P&T and P&T IU. And I am well aware of what the VA is capable of doing. They ARE the FEDS. I worked before with P&T but had to quit because of my SC disabilities, "my choice" not the concerns of the VA. That is why I applied for, and received ssdi. So my question only concerns the rules of the "ticket to work" from the SSA not the VA. If the VA denies me when I apply for educational benefits I won't lose it, and that my friend is the only thing that I intend on discussing with the Veterans Administration, "ed benefits not returning to work".

  3. I would not even bring that topic up with the VA if you are getting 100% for a mental condition. How can you trust people who reduce vets just because they don't get a TDIU verification letter each year. They reduce first and ask questions later.

Unless you are getting TDIU I don't think they check on your employment. Just never mention employment to the VA. If they were to ask if you are working just do as Nancy Reagon said "Just say NO". If you could work being self-employed who would be the wiser?

The mental condition is 50% of my 100p/t. I am asking about social security, if there is anyone attending school or using their ticket to work. Again I am p/t not tdiu. I hope that I am making sense.

    Thanks,

Hi, not sure if this sounds ok, but 'Have you requested your VA records?' or compensation file? Service Medical Records or any other data the VA has on you?'

Do you need guidance as to where to go? or how to get a copy of your files?

    Here to help,

    CG

I have all files except my SSA files. That's what I'm trying to get. Is there a certain procedure or something? Thanks

  5. I am 100p/t and receiving ssdi, been out of work for about 18 months. Am I dreaming to think maybe I could handle taking some college courses to actually feel like I have a purpose? I must admit that I feel a bit of anxiety coming on just thinking of it. But I would like to try. One of my SC disabilities is MDD.

  6. I am currently rated 70% for Service Connected right and left knee injuries. Does anyone know if I can have a knee replaced and draw 100% compensation using a private orthopedic surgeon at a non VA hospital? This is my first post, and I appreciate any and all information and help.

    JC,

It doesn't matter who does the surgery the VA will automatically give you a temporary rating of 100% for 1 year. All you need to do is get the discharge papers and any other records showing that it was done. If you have a rep, take it to him/her and they will submit the claim. If no rep, submit it yourself. The EED of benefits will be the day of surgery. The new knee is great but the Physical Therapy was a nightmare. Good luck and hope this helps.

  7. I don't know where to start, I have the letter. Yes, the

Judge was the Most Honest and Wonderful Judge and gave Credit to

those in the Manner of how a claim should be decided.

I am sure the Attorney for the Board wrote the letter and the Judge

    signed it.

Can you believe that "WE" did this 44 years after

discharge? I couldn't have done it without each and everyone of

Congrats, I just knew that you would prevail. All Glory to GOD.

    you!!!!

    ORDER

SERVICE CONNECTION FOR CHRONIC ANXIETY IS GRANTED.

This is like a new case at the BVA

    THE ISSUE

Whether new and material evidence has been received to reopen the

claim of entitlment to service connection for an acquired psychiatric

disorder, to include anxiety and depression.

It goes on to say that I filed in 1992 and was denied and it became

    final as I never appealed.

    New and Material

To reopen a claim which has been previously denied and which is

final, the claimant must present new and material evidence.

In this case, the evidence received since the R.O's June 1992 denial

of service connection for chronic anxiety with nervousness includes

some duplicate copies of previously considered treatment records.

Such records were considered in the previous denial and are not new

and material. Also added to the claims file since the previous 1992

denial were additional treatment records not previously of record and

private and VA treatment records which show continued treatment for

    psychiatric complaints.

The service treatment records are new in that they reflect inservice

treatment for psychiatric symptoms which were determined to preclude

further military service. These documents include inservice

assessments as to the veterans psychiatric complaints. The evidence

is considered new in that it contains information that was not

considered at the time of the 1992 decision, and it is material

because it purports to show treatment for psychiatric disability

during service which was not objectively shown by the evidence

    previously.

Any way this Attorney read my buddy letter, a nurse, who was an eye

witness and I was able to prove assault by a physician and mental

    abuse by physicians.

The Swimming pool was a factor also, but not Doris.

Dr. Payne is given weight for his treatment of me for the last 30

    years.

Dr. Muller the first C&P doctor carried a lot of weight.

My Pastor of 50 years was given credit

Dr. Campion was given a lot of weight

Dr. Crowley was given a lot of weight

The two lying shrinks very little is said of them.

I have no ideal of how far back I will be paid and how much the

    percent will be.

    A big thanks to everone!!!

    Always,

    Betty

  8. Just wanted to let everyone know the " Judge" at the BVA

has made his decision and I have been assured the envelope was mailed

    out today.

I was also told my claims file is boxed and on its' way to

Hungtington, West Va. for its final rest.

I made a few friends at the Directors office and was told this

    information.

If it is success, I will post in that column.

    Always,

    Betty

I wish that you will receive, finally, your just due, Josephine.

Good luck and may GOD bless ya.

  9. I am 50% SC. I have recently been diagnosed with Hypothyroidism. It's pretty clear in my SMRs that I had this condition for some time, but was never formally diagnosed.

Prior to taking medication (Synthroid) I had cold intolerance, constipation, hair loss, weight gain, etc... After a year of treatment, these problems have cleared up.

If I attempt to get an SC for my Hypothyroidism, the most I probably would be rated is 10% since the medication is working--right?

Is it even worth the bother? 10% plus 50% is 55%. No extra pay. Is there any reason to get this service connected? Or should I save myself the grief and aggravation of dealing with the VA? I'm dreading the thought of IMOs, C&Ps, NODs, etc..

    Thanks

I agree with all the rest. Go for it, and good luck.

    Jmack :)

  10. The DIfference between SSA and VA is that the person pays a premium into SSA and expects to get it back. With the VA, it is treated like a Person has sinned and how dare you file a VA claim.

JMAC, I am happy for you, My Son got his back pay today.

Go and file for the kids as soon as you get the letter. Take the Birth certificates and Sociual security cards with you. It only took mine 4 days to get his.

    J

Hey thanks "J". I did go today and file for the kids.
