  1. cg, I have heart disease but it is not service connected, I have many other issues that are. It sounds like you would be rated at 60% with your condition. 68chstiger
  2. EF = ejection factor- they measure how well the left ventricle is pumping blood out. They told me that due to my heart attack that caused some heart muscle damage that my EF was 40% 68chstiger
  3. When I applied for benefits I put december of 2006 as the last date I had worked. I got the letter saying I had met the medical rules for disability. The letter went on to say they had determined that I did not meet these requirements until Dec 2007. So, my question is this, does the waiting period start at Dec 2007, meaning I would not be eligible until April 2008 or is the five months figured prior to Dec 2007? I hope this is clear enough to get a response, thanks The reason they say it was Dec 2007 was I was admitted to the hospital and have to have another stent put in. 68chstiger
  4. Thanks Berta and Rentalguy for the response, I'm still not sure on the compensation, the way the regs read are that I would be rated 100% while undergoing treatment and then for six months afterwards and then would be rated on residuals, so they will still compensate me until the residuals are rated?
  5. I am supposed to have an exam for residuals of Hodgkin's Lymphoma in May ( I have yet to receive any notification of when) I have a few questions.. 1. Should I hand carry info from my private medical providers or mail to VA before going? 2. When should I expect to get the letter telling me what the date of my exam is? 3. Do I continue to receive compensation until they rate my residuals? Thanks in advance for all the help, you guys have been an invaluable resource. By the way, the information I have gotten here is much better than I got from anyone at Amer. Legion, VFW and the VA. 68chstiger Binh Thuy 69-70
  6. I also forgot to mention this. I called on Thursday to inquire about my claim, the guy I talked to said they were waiting on a form I was supposed to send in, so I get busy and get the form they requested sent in that same day. Then on Friday I go to the mailbox and there is my approval letter saying I had been granted 100%. What was this guy looking at on the computer screen, it had to be in their system that I had been approved, makes you wonder about the VA employees....
  7. I have only posted a couple of times, mostly just read what everyone is doing on their claims. I am a Viet Nam vet with Hodgkin's disease and I filed my claim on June 6th and recieved my approval notice saying I had been granted 100% with an effective date of July 1. This will be good for 6 months after finishing treatment. The letter said at that time I would be re-evaluated and rated on any residuals. Without HADIT I could not have gotten this done so quickly. Thanks so much for everyone posting advice and links to assist in getting this award. I did everything online and without any representation. My next question is, what exactly would residuals be in this case?
  8. If you have multiple claims, will the VA rate one if they have all the needed info or will they wait until all claims have all information sent in?
  9. Will one condition be rated that has all the needed evidence or will they wait until evidence for all conditions is received?
  10. I filed my claim 2 months ago electronically. I have Hodgkin's and when I filed I sent copies of DD214, pathology reports showing I actually had the disease, report from my oncologist, etc. I called yesterday to check on the status and was told it was in the pre-determining stage, with all the evidence I sent what is it they have to determine? Is this just one of many delay tactics used by them?
  11. Berta, Thanks for replying, my prognosis on the Hodgkin's is good, it's the side effects that have me worried. FYI, I was in Viet Nam 69-70, Mekong Delta.
  12. I filed my claim electronically on 06/03/07. How long should it take to get a rating? Since it is a presumptive disease I would think it should get fast approval or am I dreaming? I have seen where one gets rated at 100% during treatment and for six months after. At that time it says you will be rated on residuals, what does that mean? It is amazing at the information I have been able to get through Hadit. Thanks to everyone who contributes. I am going through chemo at the present time and then will get radiation treatments. It has not been fun so far, the side effects are the worst thing. Any info or tips would be appreciated.
