It's been a 6 year battle with this sleep apnea claim, but it now over. Just received the letter from Board of Veterans Appeals that service connected sleep apnea is granted. What a bunch of bs I had to go through!

Its Oct 31 and I have not received my clothing allowance yet, do I need to make a phone call? I did apply early and did receive a letter from the Prosthetics Dept. VA La Jolla in May 2013, confirming I was approved. I do have direct deposit and did check ebenetfit and only my VA Comp is schedule for Nov 1st.

Just was told I have gout from the VA Clinic. Is it possible to link gout secondary to hypertension? I've been having these gout attacks on my right knee and foot 2-4 times a month for the last 3 years. I always thought they were residual pain from previous stroke.

Next week I have my second c&p for my Migraine. I was awarded 30% because I didn't say the magic word prostrating to the VA Dr. Plus I was under some heavy meds during the exam, I was unable to answer the questions. So I had to file a NOD, which leads to this exam. I have a letter from my Neurologist stating the migraine are frequent, averaging 2-3 times weekly,despite preventive medications. When these are severe they are prostrating, and he is thus unable to function. He has been missing work due to headaches severity and frequency. In the past he had suffered a stroke and as a result cannot be treated with triptan medications. I also gave them a calender for the past year of my migraines. The last VA examiner was alitte rude and was more concern with my stroke and did most of the exam on the residiual of the stroke. I hope I don't get the same Examiner! My goal is to get the 50% rating for the Migraine.

I have10% sc for keratosis pilaris, this is just about on 80% of my body. I just heard on clothing allowance if your clothes get stain due to the cream. Anyone have any insight on how to apply for this?

The stroke is service connected along with the hypertension.

I never had sleep apnea before the stroke. I see my Neurologist on Monday and I'll have her write another letter with "more likely than not".On my C&P exam, the Examiner ask more questions about the stroke than the sleep apnea.

I developed Sleep Apnea after my stroke last May.I had a statement from my Neurologist that the Sleep Apnea was Most likely a result from the Stroke and obstructive sleep apnea is a common sequela after a stroke. The VA examiner opined that left cerebral infarct is not a risk factor for obstructive sleep apnea and your sleep apnea was not caused by your stroke. I also showed them 2 sleep studies, one with the cpap and without. I am sleeping with the cpap. I plan on appealing this decision. Anyone have any advise or any experience in this?

Just got the results from my sleep study today, and I have "severe sleep apnea". They said I stop breathing a few times for over 10 seconds. I'll be getting more details nexts week on the mask I have to wear at night, from what they tell me it makes some noise! And yes, its secondary to the Stroke! So, once I get all the copies of the test I'll file another claim with the VA. Anyone have any ideas of the average rating and code for sleep apnea? Still waiting for VA to rate the Migraine.

I have my C&P Exam next Wednesday for the Migraines, I was awarded 100% for 6 months for the stroke. Not sure yet for the residuals. I'm still having issues and not fully recovered. I'm just taking it one day at a time!

Same residuals no more TIA's, the Migraines are are now starting to get treated and down to 6 a month. The migraine are not as bad as before, due to the meds I'm taking. I'm still on limited duty at work, I give 1 1/2 hour of my route away to make 8 hours just to make 8 hours. The B/P is under control. Thanks for asking!

Checked my bank account this morning and the VA deposit over $12,000.00 into it. I guess 4 months of payments!

Thanks for all the input. I'll have to get down to the DAV Office and go over this with them. Hopefully this money will kick in soon.

Got the brown envelope today, not so good news. Got 100% for 6 months for Left cerebral infarction. 0% for Atherosclerosis. They deferred the decicision on the migraine due to that they need more evidence. I'm still being treated by my Neurologist, I'm going to a sleep lab next week! Just another claim to add on to later. My question is, do I get real money for 6 months or is it like the way they pay me the 20% from my retirement check?

I just drop off medical records to the VA for the Migraine secondary to the Stroke. During my C&P exam last week for the stroke, he question me about the migraines. Hopefully there won't be another exam. In my records the Neurologist states the migraine's developed from the stroke. My big concern now is my job, with the residuals from the stroke and the migraine flair ups, my employer is not to please. I'm working but on limited duty for now, can't carry my entire route. I don't have a walking route! With this VA math, I'll be lucky to get a 50% rating!

I had every test done Echo of the heart, MRI,Angiogram. I have no heart problems just atherosclerosis and high cholestrol. I having a hard time performing my job as Letter Carrier for the Post Office. The physical part of it seems to be wearing me out. Like today, had to go home sick due to a migraine. I only have a limited amount of sick leave left!

I had an Ischemic Stroke, acute left lacunar infarct within the basal ganglia. And no, nothing was ask on the claim about 100 percent for six months! DAV handled the claim, so maybe. He didn't mention anything about that to me.

On the first claim I had the stroke with the migraine calender log, then the VA sent me another claim for the migraine secondary to the stroke. But they have all the medical records and Doctors statements. Hopefully the rating will include the migraine. I hope it all works out!

Just had my C&P Exam last week for the stroke, they confirmed that the the stroke is secondary the the HPN! Just have to wait on the rating. I have some memory lost, slur speech,weakness on my right side, pain in my arm. He ask if I recovered at 100% after the stroke and I told him I only recovered 70% and my doctor said thats what Im left with! I still Have one issue left, with the complex migraine. Have to have that tied in with the Stroke. My Neurologist wrote a letter stating that it is secondary to the stroke.These migraine happens 6-9 times a month and leaves me paralized up to 3 hours at a time. I suppose I'll have another C&P exam for that. I have the DAV in San Diego helping me out with all the paper work! I just hope I get a good rating, Im at 20% now, I got a bad feeling I'll only get another 10%! Any idea's or guess?

Went to DAV got interviewed and he filed the claim. He wants me to have my doctor to write a letter that 1. State that the stroke and migraine is secondary to HTN. 2. All residuals that I have after the stroke. 3. Alittle bio of her self. He mention if may take any where up to 9 -16 months!

I file tomorrow with the VA. I have to look into my options with fers and the USPS. I'm not sure if thier still have the early retirement at 50 still. Just got all the medical records copied today and briefly talked to a DAV Rep. I'll find out more tomorrow. This just has me so worried, heard so many bad stories. This stroke has really changed my life.
