  1. Sorry about the fight you were in, how many bodies, heads missing, and guts everywhere was there in the fight ?

    sounds terrible your experience.

PTSD has many types, since I was in Combat I do not have a clue about your fight with someone, I had those in high school, got crap beat out of me buy the upper classmen because I would dnot back down....

Think I will see what the VSO can do for me...

But, I guess your right...... you had it bad...

    vperl,

I do not agree with the above.

In the rear with the gear, the guy in the hole for weeks on top of weeks,

stationed stateside and getting jumped and beaten behind the bowling

    alley......... PTSD is PTSD.

    jmho,

    carlie

  2. Thanks for all the responses, I do have a PH and CAB, both on my DD214. I will just list everything in the request and probably do it again when I get the response and VCAA letter. The one question, do I need to list all stessors or just a couple major ones?

On stressors, names of KIA/WIA, dates, events..how close you were to each.. about thier family and how it made you feel to survive and he did not with a family, and you were single... so who would miss you ? your folks for a while or your wife& Kids?

Guilt you felt.... why me... so many others that deserved to not get killed you survived.... why.

How did it tear you up, the mud rain, c-rats, the horror of it all..... death all around you like a blanket, the numbing you feel, lose of caring what really happens to you....

but then again if you were in a camp, or lived in a tent and just got incomming every now and again... maybe not......

in the rear with the gear is different than the guy in the hole for weeks on top of weeks... going thru all the crap...

if you got them, you know them

  3. the C&P will ask one or both question when he first meets you

how you doing today...... great, the sun is shinning and I just found a girl friend, and won the lottery

Do you know why you are here today......... to screw the VA... travel pay

just get up put your lawn mowing clothes on and go straight to the exam.... forget to comb hair...

be like you are.. no sunday clothes, or good attitude...., btw, you stink

anything you say positive will be used against you...

after the C&P 3-4 days send in this form requesting the results of your C&P exam on the date you had the exam and what it was for like PTSD or hemerrroids... what ever

    http://www4.va.gov/vaforms/medical/pdf/vha-10-5345a-fill.pdf

    just be your obnoxious self..

  4. I finally got the date for my C&P Exam. I got a packet with a set of questionaires for each condition that I need to fill out before the exam. Does anone have any suggestions on filling these out and the C&P exam?

    which exam?

    what questions..... a list please

  5. Do you have a VSO, go talk to one... see what they have to say..then you decide your options, hadit will be here no matter what you decide

if you did a search on this site you'd have all answered, as I remember one needs to have

one SC above a certain % 30 % as I remember does not cut it.

As unfair as it is raters may have a "thing" about giving IU to under a certain ( 21-50) age unless they really have paperwork to back up the claim...

do some research...this site all you need, and also.... www.Watchdog.org

Do some research on the site it is there for you to find

  6. also, do I need an IMO saying I can't work? Cuz I have no private doc and don't know if the Va doc will go on record and say I can't work. Any opinions?

  7. they do NOT normally rate a claim for PTSD until after the stressors have been verified and a C&P exam are done, it has been done before without them but that is not the NORMAL procedure

Great...... I have a appeal for PTSD in the works, I went to a IMO MHP and visited the MHP 8 times got a diagnosis, of PTSD with a 40 GAF. I have had a C&P last year for the original denial. a year ago. Is it standard procedure to have another C&P exam even though you have a diagnosis from a Mental Health Professional ?

Any chance 2-6 , 50-50 or they will schedule another PTSD C&P ?

I am in the waiting mode.......

  8. Ok, I was awarded 80% overall (20% diabetes and 70% PTSD) 12 Aug 2008. The rest of my claim was deferred, then denied. I appealed and finished my C&P reviews in Jan and Feb 2010. My medical doctor stated that a lot of the heart/coronary/vascular problems that I was claiming had to do with the Agent Orange thing that changed last oct/Nov? Any idea on what she is talking about. Also saw another shrink again. He was wondering how I managed to get 70% on the first C&P exam, was surprised that I had not been granted total and permanent. He stated to me that he would write his report in such a way that I would be granted total. I am totally confused now. If I am granted 100%, will I be entitled to retro pay back to my original claim approval date?I also applied for unemployability. My rep felt that since the original claim had been denied on parts of the claim, we should go for the unemployability. Any ideas at all as to what is going on?Thanks,George

    ***************************************************************************

not that I am counting but I have a AO IHD presumptive claim in and have had the C&P, but the rules to run this new group of presumptive is still in the works.......

Ischmic Heart Disease, you probably have this the Doc told you......

I would get my butt to the VSO or who ever helps you and hand him written statements from show who ever you have IHD

medical records from day one, highlight the IHD stuff....

do you have a Pacer or a ICD ? if the VA does as we all hope the lowest you'd get is 30 % and that would help if they ever tried to lower your ratings.. get all the stuff you can so that it makes it harder for the to lower your rating.

File the AO claim now with the VSo, and state that you.. are giving notice to file a AO IHD CLaim and that the proof, records, statement will follow..... then take 2 weeks to get the stuff, get your VSO to check it over High light any stuff... the times you had events, the medication you take, the diagnosis from your doctor is paramount.... make sure you get the diagnosis that is needed with medical proof, if you have stint, pacer, or ICD...... the ICD will as some of the best minds here on the board have said probably will seal the deal to get you a straight 100%......

file now, to set your retro date....

13sept09 it was announced I filed on 26Sept09 waiting for rules to be published...... will take long time, but retro is ticking...

  9. If the C&P was for a MH condition,

    there are certain circumstances that

VA can withhold releasing a copy to the veteran.

Some MH C&P's specify do not release to

    veteran without prior doctors consent.

    jmho,

    carlie

    &&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

had a ROI for my PTSD C&P exam, took the time frame I suggested......

If you file the ROI, they have to respond. Do nothing, you get nothing

  10. could i do voc rehab now since i'm TDIU or not? Maybe I can try and see but I really want to do something like school.

I love taking classes at the local college. If college is too trying on my PTSD can I drop out?

I was also thinking about volunteering at a local charity. It would be very light volunteer work but I think it would help keep my mind busy. you all might know depression has a way of sneaking in the brain when it's stalled.

I will sneak in for answers in the morning.

    good nite

Whoops, you changed the spelling, good for you

your not a Marine anymore ?

Well, I know many thousand honorable dicharged Marines that may most certainly disagree with you on that..

There is a term Marines use, or maybe us old guys have a better feeling of our Branch than others....

    Pride of our service branch.

My best friend is much like you, and I pity him for not realizing his efforts of yesterday, and being proud..

    Berta:

Also, I looked on my SRB my CAR was awarded July 1969, Thought for sure I had it a year or so earlier

Keeping my record intact, of being wrong...

    Multi-axial system http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diagnostic_an...ti-axial_system

The DSM-IV organizes each psychiatric diagnosis into five levels (axes) relating to different aspects of disorder or disability:

Axis I: Clinical disorders, including major mental disorders, and learning disorders

Axis II: Personality disorders and mental retardation (although developmental disorders, such as Autism, were coded on Axis II in the previous edition, these disorders are now included on Axis I)

Axis III: Acute medical conditions and physical disorders

Axis IV: Psychosocial and environmental factors contributing to the disorder

Axis V: Global Assessment of Functioning (GAF) or Children's Global Assessment Scale for children and teens under the age of 18

  12. Say, " Pretty Please" !

    **********************************

The VA already has enough rules and regulations to process claims with accuracy and speed.

They will pick out a couple of easy claims that won't cost them very much money and then use those few claims to beat their own drum.

    Somebody prove me wrong please.

hello, I know I'm new here but I just wanted to let everyone know I was granted TDIU. I got the big brown envelope last Friday. I put in my TDIU claim last June after i was approved for social security. man, this took 8 long months. The VA moves so slow.

It says I have chapter 35 benefits. What is this and does this mean anything?

the letter also says I have "no future exams." Is this good?

What other benefits do I have and how much will I get every month with TDIU?

should I appeal for higher rating?

    thanks

  14. "the more things change, the more they stay the same.................."

and, a corpsman IS STILL a corpsman (A "Death Cheater").

and, the most comforting words, the words I heard that made me relax better than even the morphine were "CORPSMAN UP!" You knew then, when you heard that, that THEY knew you were down, and THEY'D be coming..........crap, almost 50 years ago and I'm sitting here, crying!

and, one of the worst instances of "stolen valor".............someone claiming to be a Corpsman.

    I'm outta here.

    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

your right stolen valor .... have you read all his posts ? Excuses are like.........guess what

all over the place.... he is not the first to be the wannabe hero..... sniper, recon, baloney pusher around....

knew a guy that gave me a Motor=T MOS and claimed all sorts of stuff, once you get face to face with them they

run like cock roaches when the light is turned on........ scurry little beasties skurrie..

  15. Berta, 1967 the Corps got the CAR.... or atleast what I remember, but I looked it up

seems still.... I am right, but...... according to this I am not, my role is always being wrong...

must be that PTSD thingy... me thinks I will look at my SRB the awards page and see which command added the award.

The Combat Action Ribbon (CAR) is a personal military decoration of the United States Navy and United States Marine Corps which is awarded to those who, in any grade including and below that of a Captain in the Navy (or Colonel in the Marine Corps), have actively participated in ground or surface combat. The Combat Action Ribbon is also awarded to members of the United States Coast Guard when operating under the control of the Navy.

The Combat Action Ribbon was first created in February 1969 with SECNAVNOTE 1650[1] with retroactive presentation to March 01, 1961. However on October 5, 1999, by Presidential Order of Bill Clinton and under Public Law 106-65, the retroactive effective date of the Combat Action Ribbon was changed to December 07, 1941 which was the entry date of the United States of America into the Second World War.

To be awarded the Combat Action Ribbon, the individual must have rendered satisfactory performance under enemy fire while actively participating in a ground or surface engagement.

    I too have a question-

my husband was USMC Vietnam 1965-1966- combat-

USMC didnt award the CAR for many years. When did you receive this award?

    My husband was 100 % P & T for PTSD.

The CAR or lack of it on his DD 214 (as the USMC didnt have this badge/ribbon when he served) had absolutely nothing to do with his PTSD SC rating.

The fact that he had multiple verified combat stressors had nothing to do with his 100% award.

His GAf was 34 and then 26.That really had nothing to do with his award.

TDIU or 100% is awarded solely due to medical evidence that your PTSD has rendered you unemployable due to SC PTSD and/or any other SC disabilities.

  16. First off congratulations...

You had a CAR and you were a "medic" fantastic.....

I ask a question Many Actual RVN Marines would ask. Your profile shows that you were a Marine, well S/F buddy.

You have a CAR great, me too. The guys that provided medical aide to Marines are legendary the very best

and they are a special breed. Marines will die to protect their medical people from being harmed, I've seen it.

I however, and I suspect the rest of the RVN Marines or even the Marines of today might be confused...., ( I could be wrong, things, do change)

I never heard of the medical people that tend to Marines calling them selves "medics" or claim to have been in the U S Marine Corps,.

Now I may be wrong..... maybe it is day when it is night, but I never knew the Marines had "medics"

The US Navy provides Medical people and strange as it sounds all, both the US Navy and the US Marines, refer to these

people as " Corpsman" these navy guys are attached to rifle companies and are very proud to be Navy Field

    Corpsman.

Please explain....... I await your explanation.. I await to say how confused I am and do not understand.

    your buddy,

    S/F
