I thin Berta hit the nail on the head ".resulting from performance under conditions simulating warfare" any type of fighter training sorties always are simulating war unless you are just surging to put numbers on the board ( I am an old pro super we all know that game.) I did some more research for you and found the article I was talking about it is in the May 18th Air Force times on page 19 and it quotes Flight surgeon Lt. Col Brian Pinkston who is chief of operational medicine for the Air Force Medical support agency. If you need the article PM me with your snail mail addy I still have the paper

    Good Luck and god bless

  2. I just received the denied letter from the Air Force for CRSC. I am 30% disabled from VA as the result of spinal injury/surgery. There was not one distinct event that caused my problems, but the hours of combat flying in a tight cockpit, the constant vibration, the pulling of G's, the hard landings, etc. are suspect. Anyone have any advice for success for an aviator to receive an approved claim? I appreciate your help.

I would resubmit I think it was last weeks AF times that talked about all the back injuried to pilots due to the same situation you describe. Go to Air force Times on line print the article out and send it to them, this is the AF Drs saying this use there own words against them good luck

  3. This most certainly can be pinned on the current administration. While the perceived costs of good and services are trending lower, the actual costs are on the rise due to increases in taxes. It is ver interesting that someone who claims to have given 95% of the American people tax cuts has, in fact, done the absolute opposite. Moreover, the pittance of a income tax break for the middle class that he gave has already been axed by Pelosi and Reed. This IS change you can believe in. At least I can believe in it, because I saw it coming, and tried to tell others.

    [/quot

The 400 tax break I got under the makeing america work break. Well $250 dollars of it will be spent just on the new tax increase for the federal goverment on smokes taxes now the state goverment will wants another 50 cents a pack also. Forget about Sales tax increase on property taxes based on a home values and the peak of the market in 2006.

  4. When you have to start getting information for other vets like stressor verfications we helpers are getting in deep. If the vet can't do it for themselves or hire a lawyer to do it then it becomes a full time unpaid job. Giving advice is one thing but doing it for someone else is a whole different matter. I tried to help a widow get a war pension and it opened my eyes. Her husband was not ever even in the military. Those least able to help themselves, and I mean the sickest people, have the least chance of winning their claim. Especially, if they are homeless and/or mentally disabled. It is survival of the fittest in the world of the unfit.

I am a little bit jadeed I will not help anybody intil I see the DD form 214. I have heleped a few vets who have had a increase in ther % I due charge a bottle of Jim Beam for every 10 percent awared. 5. Well I went with my ex boss to his DRO hearing. The hearing was set for 10 oclock but he had to meet with his VSO at 9 oclock. We meet with his VSO at about 915 we were running late due to the long drive. This man was from the VFW and was one of the most preperd VSO I had ever seen. He went over the case asked about 10 questions then called the DRO up to tell her I would be in the room. The DRO swore us both in then the VSO took over. He asked my friend a lot of questions asked me about 5 questions. The DRO was very calm laid back and very polite. The VSO got in the record about his 123 missions in Vietnam to include his 100 missions over North Vietnam in a F4. I was inpressed I have known this man for 5 years and did not know any of that. He had never spoken about it. When we got ready to leave the VSO stated for the record that he was retired from the VA after 25 years 20 as a rater and 5 as a DRO. He stated that my boss meet all of the requirments for a IU and it schould be granted. We both left there feeling good about the case. He stoped us in the hall and told us it looked real good. I will keep you all informned when not if but when he wins.

  7. Most of you know that I have been unemployed since November. However, I was still clicking away at job applications while my claims were sorted out. The economy stinks and the job market, especially for a disabled veterans stinks.

One of my pet peeves in this world is Veterans Preference and how, from past experience, does not help veterans land jobs or get their foot in the door. The Federal Hiring process is a big joke, full of nepotism, lies, lacks transparency, and down right dishonest.

After years and hundreds of applications to numerous federal agencies, I got a hit and landed an upcoming job interview in another state. It is for a very good position.

Anyone want to guess which agency it is....????

Yup, The Veterans Adminstration, our buddy.

I had doubts on even going and is concerned about the exposure. Based on the contact so far, I get the feeling that someone is finally using Vets Pref and applying the laws, but the hiring folks might not like that. Before I became disabled, I held a good career in the private sector. I feel awkward if they would ask about my disability. I think if that came to that question, I would have to apply the confidential medical records statue. But you know, these clowns can simply pull that up on the computer.

    Any thoughts?

    Iraqx2

I say go for it. I have applied for a federal job postion with the VA also. It 4 miles from my house at the National Chaplin center as a recuriter. Hey if you can't beat them join them. I know if I do not get a new job soon I will be unemployed and on IU

  8. I've tried every which way to get this file open but no such like. What bothers me is that I have a service connected disability including TBI and I never got a letter. If someone could post it some other way so I could see it I would know what I'd be calling the VA to ask about.

    Daddio

    Daddio

Click on the letter it will be hard to read when it open up then click on it again then easy to read

  9. All

its not Just OEF/OIF Vets going to the front of the line its any vet who got out after October 2001. It is global war on terriosm vets no matter where they serverd going to the head of the line. At my last DRO hearing the young DRO brought up the fact the I was A GWOT vet and she would try to work my claim fast. Well August will be 5 years I been fighting the VA so I beleive it all show and no go. I do beleive new VETS get there first rateing quick low ball or denial then get in line with the rest of us

  10. I am so trying to maintain a sense of humor,

I am not sure when I will be able to get back online, I am borrowing a friends computer.

One day as I came home from work, still in my uniform, wife tells me she wants a divorce and calls cops to evict me. So there I was, a week away from my retirement and homeless. I am sleeping in my truck and at friends homes. I go to Ft Knox and retire, do all the paperword, and on my way home, get a call, it is my Dr. The C and P doc called him, told him to get my approval to transfer records. Come to find out, I have two tumors on my spine down in the L something area where it meets the S something. Great story here is that in ten years I will probably be in a wheelchair paralyzed and peeing or worse all over myself. Did I mention she gave the cops my guns?

So after 22 years in the Army, I am finally a veteran, a homeless one.

I guess the only good thing is my friend Mr PTSD hasnt shown up yet, or is Mr PTSD that new dark friend Mr Depression and not Mr Anger?

If anyone could spare a prayer, I would sure appreciate it, as I am kinda goin through a tough time. Sorry to drop all this, but I need to get it out, I am drowning........

    SFC Trucker

  13. Hi Everyone,

I'm new to the forum and new to the VA process. I am a Marine Vietnam combat veteran and I am experiencing extreme difficulty with the current financial rating process while attempting to get care for service connected issues such as PTSD, hearing loss etc. I applied for benefits in October of 2008 after my employer closed his business and I lost health insurance benefits, the income the VA is using for eligilbility is our 2007 income which is slightly over the maximum for zero services copay. My 2008 income is below that threshold and my current income is way below the threshold. My problem is now I am on a fixed income with Social Security and I can not afford the

$ 15.00 copay per Doctor visit nor can I afford to pay the hospitalization fee of $ 1,068.00 for resident PTSD treatment which I desperately need. In other words I'm screwed. My attitude is I filled my part of the contract with Uncle Sam and now its time he filled his!! Any ideas??

    Pigdrive

Just one question when did you get out of the service. Anybody discharged after October 01 gets 5 years with no copays if it might be service connected

  14. Hello

I have a 10% rating for Tinnitus and 0% rating for hearing loss. I do suffer from Tinnitus every hour that I am not asleep. I am able to hold down a 40 hour per week job. Personally to me if a veteran suffers from constant tinnitus I think they should be compensated at a higher level.

What does it take to get a higher rating for this condition?

I know I am 10 percent also that is the highest the VA will pay if its one ear or two. I got lucky on my claim I had put in for high frequencey hearing loss and the examiner (from qtc can you beleive it) asked about ringing in my years I said yes the VA rated me on the ringing in my ears without even asking for it. They don't care weither its one ear or two 25 times a day or 2 times per week it still only 10 percent.

  15. I believe to get a refinancing under streamlined you have to currently

    have a VA Home Loan.

If Current Mortage Type is Conventional

I do not think you can be do a streamlined

    re-fi to a VA Loan.

I believe it has to be a VA Loan to a VA Loan for streamlined re-fi.

At least that's what I have been told when I tried.

    jmho,

    carlie

    carlie

you are 100 percent right i thought the other vet had a va loan. Pete I was looking to cash out about 10,000 to pay off all my other bills. The Lender would do it again like carlie says depends on your credit score and how much your home is worth compared to how much you are borrowing. Also I would check my credit reports you can check all three for Free here at https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jsp, If you want to knew your score they will charge you. But if you just want to see if there are any mistakes it free. I Highly suggest every vet check there credit score once per year

    Jim

  16. has anybody oh this site has refinanced thier home using there va home loan.what out of pocket expenses did you have to pay? does anyody have there number? please need help on this issue.

Windy I looked into it. But I am at 6 percent right now and I could not afford the payments If I went to a 15 year loan. AS long as you are not cashing out anymore its a steamline loan and preety cheap as far as fees go. The VA is now charging 3.3 points to fund the loan but since you are a disabled vet you pay NO FUNDING FEE. Check around its a good deal if you are plaining i staying in your home. Most fees can be rolled into the loan. As long as you are not cashing any money out it is kind of cheap

  17. Hello everyone, I am new to this great site set up for veterans. I have a couple of questions and would like your advice. I am currently active duty army and just hit 19 years of active service. I am considering my options of whether I should go for a medical retirement of just submit my retirement papers. Problem is that I suffer from extreme anxiety, depression, and panic disorder. Also severe migranes which I have at least 3 to 4 bouts a month and each last from 1 to 3 days. I am concerned about submitting retirement paperwork because I cannot even begin to think of what kind of job I can expect to hold when I get out of the military. No civilian job is going to deal with the fact that on many occasions I am unable to show up at work because of the anxiety , panic attacks or migranes. If it isn't one on any particular day it is the other. I am on medications for all of these issues but nothing seems to really work. I also suffer from PTSD issues due to a physical assault. I believe the anxiety and depression are a direct result of the PTSD and have been seeing a military therapist at the mental health clinic. I leave his office feeling more depressed than I did when I entered his office. It just seems like he down plays everything I am saying. I feel it is a waste of my time even going to him. I basically just want my issues to be addressed before I leave the military. Any input you may have will be greatly appreciated.

If you can make the 20 years I would due the 20. Who knows how long the VA will take to finally pay you. This way you will get your military pension while you fight the VA. I been retired 6 years and I am still fighting the VA. They will rate you in under 180 days under The Benfits at discharge program but there is a 80 percent chance you will be low balled (not given what you deserve.) If you have a miltary pension you can afford to fight on. This is Just my two cents and I am sure others will jump in but if you can make it to 20 keep trucking brother

    Jim
