Wham Bam C&p Exam Today

Question

Drove 8 hours roundtrip for a C&P exam today. Items covered were a Physc Eval (don't know why), IBS, Sleep Apnea and PN Right side. I have seen many complaints on Hadit about exams and thought you guys would get a kick out of my experience. Hope the post is not to long -

-Staff very friendly

-Physc exam:

Doc - why are you here today?

Me: For a C&P but I do not know why and was hoping you could tell me.

Doc: I have reviewed your file and it is not clear why the exam was requested.

Me: Did you contact Montgomery and ask why?

Doc: Yes but the person I spoke to did not know.

Doc: Since you claimed IBS I assume that is what it is for because it is a new syndrome which sometimes has a physc cause. However, we will do a complete work up.

27 mins later we had gone through my entire 52 year life from my relationship with my family, my 25 years in the Army to do I see and speak to people that others can not see. Now I am no doc but I honestly can not see how an exam like this could last any less than 3-4 hours.

General Exam:

Doc: Why do you think you have PN?

Me: Neurologist conducted EMG which said so.

Doc: Why do you think it progressed so quickly since your DMII only began in 1999?

Me: I don't think anything. I am only going by the EMG results. Although I was officially diagnosed with DMII in 1999 my blood sugar tests since 1989 has been in the 150 to 210 area.

Doc: What type of pain do you have and which hurts worse arm/hand and leg/foot?

Me: Burning pain - hand -foot.

Doc: When did your IBS begin?

Me: 2003

Doc: Since that was after your service why do you think it should be service connected?

Me: I served in Strom/Shield, no doctor has been able to tell me why I have it and it is on the list of presumptive conditions for Storm/Shield service members.

Doc: Is your pain/uncomfortable feeling constant.

Me: Yes

Doc: That will be all sir, have a good day.

Me: What about the exam for Sleep Apnea?

Doc: The Physc Doc covered that.

Me: The Physc Doc said she was covering IBS.

Doc: That is impossible. We do not do Physc evals for IBS.

Me: Then you need to tell her and I need to see her again before I leave.

Doc: If Montgomery needs anything else sir they will have you come in again. Have a good day.

In 11 mins the doc covered my claim that I have been waiting on for 23 months and then told me I may have to wait longer and travel again because neither the VAMC or the RO has a clue as to what is going on. That is ok, I love traveling 8 hour round trips. AIN'T THIS GAME WE PLAY JUST THE FUNNEST DAMN THING YOU GUYS HAVE EVER DONE!!!!!!! I SURE THINK IT IS.

PS - I am not picking on the VAMC guys and gals. They were all wonderful and very respectful. Heck who knows it may end up being one of the best C&P exam write ups that I have ever received! When I reported for the first exam my BP was sky high 232/135 and they immediately carted me off to the ER for treatment. After that they rearranged the schedule to insure that I received both exams and we were only there about one hour after my little ER trip so they were no less than fantastic about every thing. Just after it was all over with and I had 4 hours to cool off I thought it was pretty funny and thought you guys might see the humor also. The Physc doc provided that this was not the first time the RO was unclear about what type of exam and what it was for, nor was it the first time she had contacted them to clarify their request prior to the exam and they had no ideal. Maybe the RO uses a spinning dart board to determine who gets what type of exam for their claim hahahahahahahaha.

What you wrote down here, I would send it to your state repersenative and congresman, they need to know exactly how these c & p exams are being evaluated and this is a good one for them to see. if a doctor would have treated me like this I for sure would have made a complaint to the board.( Which I have already done to Three Doctors ) I will not tolerated any bad respondes. I had one doctor coming the room and seen I was heavy and before he would exam me for why I was there he started jumping on me about my weight, I got dressed and walked out of his room, I had another doctor ( a specialist) exam me, told me to take vicadion like it was candy, go back to work, I do not have fibermyalgia, nor will I get SSD, well I took vicadion like it was candy, I do have fiberymalgia, I never went back to work and I did get SSD, I also go more depressed because of the vicadion, tried to end my life. another doctor told me because we were going to pull the plug on my father that I was killing him ( he only had 10% of his heart left) and did not want to be hook to life support, 4 hours later he died. I made a report to the medical board on him, although they could not punish him because it was not neglegant they did put a write up in his file on his behavior, But two years later he got what was coming to him> ( He's no longer with us in this world) it sounds cold but they way he jumped on me he deserved it. and he was the heart doctor on top of it. anyways My feeling is that No One Needs to Be Treated Badly and these VA Doctors that everyone is talking about Needs to be Put in their Place. So far John and I have not had this problem every doctor we have seen Has been very nice including the C&P Doc's. And at anytime we would run into one I myself will turn their little -ss in, and if it is something to do with The VA itself I will report it to State repersenative ( Tammy Baldwin) and Congressman ( Russ Finegold)

 I guess I have been fairly lucky so far.

1st C&P in 1988 I was way to ready to be done with the government, Doc lowballed C&P and RO was happy to get on the bandwagon.

2nd C&P Nurse practitioner for Back, from my copy it looks like she did right by me, How the RO/board applied her findings I am un-happy with (requested copy of C-file) after review intend to file NOD.

But with only 2 claims on one condition over 19 years, Im sure before I leave this green earth I will experience the "Twilight Zone" C&P.

Thanks to all on the board for thier advice!

If it were me I would wait until I saw what they said on exam before I took any other measures.

You can call the VAMC where you had the exam and ask for copies if you have not already done so. You will have to sign a form but you should be able to get copies in less than 2 weeks.

.........so I'd had this claim in for 3 1/2 years and I get this notice that FINALLY they had scheduled my C&P (for my ankle).

And, The Nurse (my sweet wife of 29 years) takes me to the VAMC, we go into the waiting area, after a while this Doc sticks his head out into the waiting area and HOLLERS my last name and disappears. Now I'm on crutches, so it takes me a little longer to get up and get forward motion started, so The Nurse starts after him and I'm the "drag" at the end of this little procession. We get into this exam room and here is the entire conversation in total:

"I see you are here for a C&P of your ankle. Is that correct?"

"Yessir."

"Take your boot off."

"Yessir."

"Take your AceWrap off."

"Yessir."

He grabs my foot and starts twisting it.

"Does this hurt?"

"SHIT...Yessir."

"Does this hurt?"

"HELL YES, sir!"

"Take your other boot off and walk acrosss the room as best you can."

"Put your boots back on and take this folder up to the front."

And he gets up and walks out.

The Nurse says, "Huh?"

I say, "Huh?"

I just KNOW that I'm going down in flames, after all this time. I mean, after all, I've been suffering from this screwed-up foot, ankle and leg for 40+ years before I finally shoved my pride aside and asked for help, right? Then, 3 1/2 years go by and I get this guy that I don't EVEN know who is (never even introduced himself), gonna really screw me over, right. I mean, I suffer from diagnosed Major Depression and this ain't helping!

I KNOW I'M DYING HERE!

Gave me the best C&P that I could have ever hoped for.

Three weeks later I'm SC'd and got my percentage and it's in the bank.

WHO KNOWS?

So, like my buddy Pete says: Wait'll you see the C&P exam before you get all excited and depressed like I did.

Thats why I put this in my post. As stated the VAMC guys were good. It was not a bad C&P overall it was just kinda of funny. I went by the release office and asked for a copy of the ER treatment records and the

C&P's. Hopefully they will send them. I will let you guys know what they say when I get them.

PS - will they send the Physc eval or will I have to do something else to get it?
