Ssa/medicaid Insurance

Hello Folks, question for those knowledgable in this area....Medicaid being offered[welfare insurance] too me. As i am covered by the VHAMC, Bay Pines,Fla. i have declined this coverage. However, could i use this to obtain an outside exam[imo], once i found a doctor to accept this form of payment?? As there is alot of emphasis, on how important it is too obtain good solid medical evidence, IMO,etc;I was thinking this may be an avenue for those like myself who don't have the upfront money to pay for an independent medical opinion. I am in the process currently of obtaining the psyc. and medical exam results, that the SSA sent me for, though i was thinking,maybe this is an opportunity i should explore..?? I think you could do it but it would be going around the bush to get it.

First you have to find someone to take it, then I think you would have to see them as a patient and develop a good relationship then ask for the IMO.

I am not sure they would authorize a visit for an IMO only. I know people who have the medicaid and everything has to be approved and authorized.

Once you have SSD for 2 or 3 yrs it converts to Medicare.
