Jet Fuel & Diabetes

Rate this question

Question

Hello Fellow Veterans,

I am wondering if there are any articles on Jet Fuel exposure & Diabetes. My Doctor seems to think that there is a possibility that my exposure to JP-5 may be a link to my diabetes.

If there are any USS Midway CV-41 flat-top Veterans' out there; you know that the JP-5 on the USS Midway was in everything, drinking water, showers, tap water (we used it for coffee & brushing our teeth); which ultimately lead to it being even in the food prepared on the mess deck. For those who don't know, you could take a (clear) glass and fill it up from any drinking fountain or tap and see the JP-5 floating on top. Unfortunately bottled water was not available on the ship at that time, so it was soda pop or JP-5 water; period.

I am a cold-war Veteran; which means I did not serve in any war times, I proudly served from 1979-1986.

Years later now; I am a type 1 diabetic and am wondering if it is due to my exposure to jet fuel. Can any one help me research this or know any thing that may help me get the VA to see that this was a problem & health risk to all who served aboard this ship and I am sure others ships too?

Please feel free to email me directly (tlee@twu514.org) or through post; whiche ever works best for you

It would really take an act of God to get the VA to admit that. That is the kind of claim that would affect thousands of vets and put the VA on the hook for millions. By the time they admit that there won't be jets anymore. We will be in flying saucers.

oh my ! I see that this thread about jet Fuel and disease applies to me..

I am already rated at 50% (which most of you know by al my posts..) and am working on trying to get 100%

I have a few of the symptoms listed here too

the skin disease..

Dysplastic nevus

Nerve disease... and intestinal disease..

I am finding more ont his website..

I recently had some C&P exams, the doctor saw the skin problems and also saw that I had recently had a biopsy from a Dysplastic nevus. (Mole) that is inflamed and could be cancerous. no reults yet from lab. but I have hundreds of these on my body.....

I worked with Jet Fuel (JP-4) and also Trichloroethylene.

Not in appeals, since I got 100%, and some of it was winning an 1151 negligence, which the VA turns out does not give ful benefits if you win 1151 negligence they squirm and legal loophhole you and your family out of many benefits, really crapp nasty bunch running the va benefits, they wil backstab and scre wyou even if you win you lose. I want to say I don't have diabetes, but I chmiend in because while I have pancreatic disease and also have had some symptoms of diabetes and actually had . I have many of the same symptoms with leg swelling, pain, months of unsulin shots (while in the hospital) and the blood levels of the chemicals have markers for the diseases have been erratic.. but so far they have stopped shot of saying I have diabetes,, (forgot to mention peripheral neropathy, tremors.. etc..)

and again, I am on 50% diability for Jet fuel (JP-4) and also had been sick from trichloroethylene. The JP-4 got me sick first..

Since I am under a doctors care, and get tested every few months, I hope it doe snot progress in ful lblown diabetes, but with pancreas disease, I have a high chance of getting it. Mor einfo coming when my C%P exams and my claims go through the process for an increase in my rating..

I also was on Midway from 75 to 77 and remember very well JP5 in every thing, drinking water, shower, food prep, etc. I now have Parkinsons Desease and wonder if the JP5 has anyhing to do with it. In addition to water supply contamination I had jet fuel dumped on me numerouse times. Along with the JPdoes anyone know of a Trichlor and /or MEK connection with Parkinsons. I could sure use VA assistence.

I know that MacDill AFB is considered a toxis waste site because of spilage of jet fuel. It is about five miles from my house and who knows if the groudwater has been contaminated. All we hear is silence.
