Question

Folks, thought I'd share this...requested a review of my c-file March 24th and just today,May 16th received a letter saying that i should be assured, that my request is being handled. However , these requests are handled in the order received and i will be contacted soon with an appointment date to view the requested records. They ask for my patience..CC: VFW Representative, Signed, Privacy Officer Jennifer Kaldor (St. Petersburg,Fla. RO). I was constantly reminded in Pete53's footnote on his reply's.(thanks Pete) Being that I have SC Claims pending, I thought it imperative that I review my c-file to ensure that all evidence is in the mix..Regards, William n

You can ask for limited copies if you find something exciting. It helped me a great deal when I looked at my file in St. Pete. I got somethings fixed that were crucial by talking to a human. Pete has also mentioned asking for a personal hearing. You can do this any time regarding your claim. It does not have to be with a DRO or with the BVA.

When I showed up to view the c-file, there was only a few pages. They said thats all they use as a working claims file. The rest of the file wasn't availeble. I traveled three hundred miles for nothing.

allan, I hope that won't be the case, though i only live 15 miles from the RO. Having talked to a Public Contact Officer recently about my claim for PTSD, she stated she had my c-file and is 8 inches thick. She said she could not find my SOC. She reworked the file and called me 2-3 days later and said she located it. She also stated, she is SC(ptsd). I expect too see the same file she had. As far as copies..if they have something that I don't, then surely I'll ask for a copy. I was pretty methodical in the handling of my paperwork, as I had learned from this site early on. I also believe that it won't disrupt the process as i was told it will go right back too the rater(s) desk once I examine it. I may very well ask for a personal hearing, before they reach any decision(s). At least I'd have the comfort of knowing that we are all on the same page(s)..Many thanks, William n
