    Have Questions? Get Answers.

Tips on posting on the forums.

    1. Post a clear title like ‘Need help preparing PTSD claim’ or “VA med center won’t schedule my surgery instead of ‘I have a question.

    2. Knowledgeable people who don’t have time to read all posts may skip yours if your need isn’t clear in the title.
I don’t read all posts every login and will gravitate towards those I have more info on.

    3. Use paragraphs instead of one massive, rambling introduction or story.

Again – You want to make it easy for others to help. If your question is buried in a monster paragraph, there are fewer who will investigate to dig it out.

    Leading too:

exclamation-point.pngPost straightforward questions and then post background information.

    Examples:

    • Question A. I was previously denied for apnea – Should I refile a claim?
      • Adding Background information in your post will help members understand what information you are looking for so they can assist you in finding it.
Rephrase the question: I was diagnosed with apnea in service and received a CPAP machine, but the claim was denied in 2008. Should I refile?

    • Question B. I may have PTSD- how can I be sure?
      • See how the details below give us a better understanding of what you’re claiming.
Rephrase the question: I was involved in a traumatic incident on base in 1974 and have had nightmares ever since, but I did not go to mental health while enlisted. How can I get help?

This gives members a starting point to ask clarifying questions like “Can you post the Reasons for Denial of your claim?”

You’ve just been rated 100% disabled by the Veterans Affairs. After the excitement of finally having the rating you deserve wears off, you start asking questions. One of the first questions that you might ask is this: It’s a legitimate question – rare is the Veteran that finds themselves sitting on the couch eating bon-bons … Continue reading

Denver Varo--changed My Mind

Ron II

Question

I have long thought I was getting good service from the Denver VARO--I've recently changed my mind.

Please read the BS below. Ron

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Discussion Thread Veteran/Inquirer 06/28/2008 07:01 PM

1. Your Denver VARO letter of 25 June 2008 asks for additional evidence pertaining to treatment from Dr. Albrecht of Colorado Springs--evidence which I have furnished at least six times. I am disappointed in your VARO ignoring evidence.

2. Your letter asks me to complete and return VA Form 21-4142 or "You may want to obtain and send us the information yourself."

I HAVE sent this information to you six times and four of the documents have been returned as DUPLICATE. I am disappointed in your VARO ignoring evidence which "Andy" of your regional office confirmed you have received.

3. I have sent your office numerous letters in an attempt to explain the multiple requests by your office for the same evidence and it is obvious no one is reading my C-file. I am very disappointed in the Denver VARO ignoring my new and material

evidence and not reading my statements AND delaying my claim unnecessarily.

Ron, how far are you from the Denver office? It appears that they are suffering from a case of the stupiddizmoatis, commonly referred to as idiots.

Send me a PM with the wording of the last letter you received from them for it seems as though they may have a file copy of the evidence at hand and the letter is the mandatory "send us any new and material evidence you may have". At any rate I would demand/request a personal hearing with the service center manager. They will wiggle and wobble and say it ain't possible however, it is possible and it is part of the due process system. He/she is simply the most senior rater at the VARO so it is not like you want to meet with Peake himself. Most of the time when a veteran pushes this button most of the idiotic antics tend to stop and you will get a true and much clearer picture of where your claim is and just what is lacking at that point. Not in all cases, cause sometimes if you are dealing with real idiots, you are just dealing with real idiots.

Ron - I guess now I can truly say. "Welcome aboard" ---- lol.

You will get it worked out and best of all, this decade only has 18 months left !

Hope all of our current claims get cleared up by then.

Carlie,

You are certainly correct in that I am in the boat now. And...to think I had been so positive in my posts about the VA system. I feel like going up to Denver and protesting outside their office like one brave soul from Hadit did at his/her VARO.

It's almost unbelievable the level of sloppiness in this case (and probably those of most of the other Hadit members).

I take back all the good things I had to say about the system.

Ron,

Stick with it and sooner or later things will work out as they should.

It taint ALL bad and it taint all good, as my 90 year old Aunt always says.

carlie

Hi Carlie,

I don't mind waiting my turn; many vets have waited much longer than me. What truly bothers me is the obvious neglect in maintaining claims and the deceitful manner in which "some" employees of the VARO apparently operate. I could use stronger language, but I will limit myself to saying it is profoundly frustrating to see, hear, and read about the tactics that MUST be premeditated because no one could be as idiotic as the claims processors with whom I am dealing appear to be.

Thanks for your support.

And...yes, I have finally learned the truth.

Ron, this is no more than a stall technique, I suggest if you live close to the VA have carry it in there (the date stamped one) as say look you already have this on file why are you doing this to hold up my claim on evidence you have received 6 times??? Tell them you are going to call the Inspecting General to show how they are wasting alot of time and resources just to hold up a claim.....

I just might do what you suggest. I think I need to cool down first; I can accept an honest mistake by someone, but this appears to be outright negligence. I live only 65 miles from the VARO.

Thanks for your comments...

Ron, I had the same problem, different paper work but just the same they started to request paper work they already have that could take months to get (not to mention when they start to work on it) what they already have! The 65 mile trip is worth it. I am sorry I didn't read all your thread but the first few lines said it all.....

Hello Ron, I too have seen the 'pat' and standard reply statements the VBA employees use. I have also recieved those replies. In my correspondence to the VA, I try my best to include along with the subject matter, the date of each item I submit, date submitted, method submitted and defining (like you did) abbreviations.

But of course, I still get back the automated statements that dont address any thing in specific. We here at the VA have recieved your claim and are working it.....and the only thing dated is the letters release date. So? The form letter never, did I say NEVER, reveals what claim or details anything related to me the veteran. Oops, the form contains name and file #.

I get it again and again - write clearly and in elementary language to correspond with the VA. Send 'everything' by certified'signed for mail. The only proof until the date stamp, if even then!

Ron, what you have and are going through is next to ridiculus. Ricky taught me to laugh (hahahha!) Sorry, but I wonder, you sound so stressed, are you connected to VA behavorial and social health?? Reason I ask, once had a VA PCP offer and I stammered, 'what'? Well, visitng that clinic allows me to air my old military years gripes that I have carried as 'excess baggage',

Started seeing providers, rarely having similar discussions and probably furthered VA docs education about stresses of military 'life'. I got sc for mdd (30%) thanks to my Hadit family and Pete, I found my correct diagnosis in a copy of my Cfile. (For those of you who are new and reading this - a CFile is a permanent VA Claims File the and keep for individual vet claimants)]

Best to ya Ron,

cg

Hello Friend (cg),

I am usually a mellow person and I do not have PTSD, BUT I am so POed at the local VA that I could spit bullets. My way of dealing with stress is to write, so I apologize to Hadit for my outburst about my claim. This crap is u n b e l i e v a b l e.
