Medication Coverage

Question

I now get my prescriptions from my local VA but I also have coverage through Caremark from my civilian employer. I have been with the VA for a year and up until a couple months ago I never received a bill for my medication. I even called about six months ago and was told I didn't owe anything. A month ago I got a huge bill, for me, of $400.00 from the VA. My question? Will Caremark pick up any of this if I am required to pay this bill?

It depends on what their coverage is and how it is worded in the policy. All you can do is submit the bills to them and hope they re-imburse part of them if not all, but it has been my experiece the 7 dollar co pay for meds is cheaper than what most plans pay for meds my plan had a 15 dollar deductible for each med so if your Caremark policy is like that then they won't reimburse you anything. Bottom line the VA meds program is the best deal in town everything I have seen says if you are eligible for VA meds stay away from Medicare Part D. Most vets don;t pay 35 dollars a month for meds I am sure that will change with the new rate hike to 8 dollars per script that goes in effect in January 2006.
