Question

Greeting to all,

I am a 100% Disable Veteran, this past April- I ended up at the VA hospital. They could not take care of my needs. The VA doctor shared with me that I had to be move to another hospital. A guy from after hour care came to my room and said,"Don't worry about cost, the VA will take care of it. Two months later, all sort of bills started to come to me. I have been in the red tape for months. Then comes a letter stating that I refused service to go to another VA hospital. It wasn't that I refused. It was that the other VA hospital did not have the service per doctor and the VA person. Now, I am going to have an appeal hearing. :D Need your input.

Thanks to all!

Thanks! I've kept a phone log and names of contact. I'm waiting for the appeal hearing letter to come to me. I guess, my question is: what should I bring for the hearing? Also, Who should I be contacting? thanks again!

Be sure to get copies of your medical records. Get them ASAP so that nothing "changes". Contact the fee base office and find out if a request was submitted on your behalf...and what the procedures are for submitting a request after the fact.

The more you know before this hearing (I still can't believe there is a hearing) the better. Information is power. The VA really hates an informed vet.

Do you know the names of that Dr who said you had to go to the other hospital? Get him to put that in writing. And the name of that other guy who said not to worry about the bills? If so, same thing....get him to put that in writing.

First of all, thank you for your input. The guy who gave the OK will not speak to me. I am requesting copies of my paperwork next week. I can say that for most of my years with the VA system they have been fair to me. This is one ,is uncall for.
