I received a letter back in the summer asking me to participate in a study that the VA is doing re: female veteran MST victims. I sign up, did a five hour pre session to see if I qualified, I do. I did file a claim about six years ago regarding the assault but I was too scared to really talk about it at the time.
I had my C&P about a month later, and the examiner asked me how I heard about the study(I am not sure how he found out since I am just a file # and there is supposedly no identifying information used in the study).
I told him that I received a letter. He noted it on the exam and also said in his notes that I am not pursuing the MST claim at this time.
I started the study and about three sessions in I had my six month review at work. Find out from my supervisor that I have missed 11 days in six months (most of it due to my mothers quadruple bypass) so I had to stop therapy, which in my opinion was going really well. I told her everything that I hadnt been able to tell anyone about the attack.
Anyway, I cant afford to lose another job, so I postponed the study told my therapist I will be back at the beginning of the year.
My question is this..........
Should I ask for the notes (If I can) from the study and send them to the BVA/AMC to help my existing claim even though right now its for depression? Or should I just wait to hear their decision and then use that information as NEW and MATERIAL for a PTSD claim? I wasnt diagnosed with PTSD officially until this study came about. I am confused and hope I havent confused anyone else. If so please post questions and I will try to answer them. Thanks txcooper.
