I've somehow downloaded a virus, trogan or something called winiguard.

How do I get rid of it?

Those that need help the most are the ones least likely to receive help from the VA.

It's up to us to help each other.

Sledge,

Wini Guard, also known as WiniGuard, is new counterfeit anti-spyware software that created to invade yoru privacy and ruin the Internet community. Just like most fake antispywares, Wini Guard issues misleading and exaggerated results. Wini Guard usually installed itself onto your PC without your permission, through Vundo Trojan, Virus or fake software. WiniGuard will display fake system alerts or fake security alerts to trick user to buy the paid version of WiniGuard , in order to remove the potential and reported problems. Not only does it cause your machine to slow down dramatically, it would also put your privacy and data in risk.

Winiguard is relatively new, so a tried and true cure for this baby has not appeared yet. I have several actions that you can perform yourself, depending on your comfort level.

Make sure your windows defender is turned on and working properly. If not you need to get it and install it.

A Veteran is a person who served this country. Treat them with respect.

A Disabled Veteran is a person who served this country and bears the scars of that service regardless of when or where they served.

Treat them with the upmost respect. I do. Rejection is not a sign of failure. Failure is not an option, Medical opinions and evidence wins claims. Trust in others is a virtue but you take the T out of Trust and you are left with Rust so be wise about who you are dealing with.

These are a few preliminary things that you can do.

If you have inadvertently accepted software, that you do not want, you will have to remove it.

My suggestion is to delete your cookies and temporary INTERNET files. (Safe although you will have to re-enter your passwords on sites that you entertain).

Look in your control panel (add remove programs) and check if there are unwanted programs that you can identify. Remove unwanted programs. (Be aware that some of these programs are linked to bells and whistles that you may have to give up in order to get rid of the unwanted program).

Sometimes files are added to your root directory, and you can find/delete them.

Be very careful that you do not delete files until you investigate them.

Mcafee has a few suggestions at this link.

Excerpt from the 'Declaration of Independence'

We have appealed to their native justice and magnanimity, and we have conjured them by the ties of our common kindred to disavow these usurpations, which, would inevitably interrupt our connections and correspondence. They too have been deaf to the voice of justice and of consanguinity
